Jared Goff and Christen Harper's love story is no less than a modern fairytale. Harper had no idea who Goff really was when they met each other for the first time. Now, in an interview, Harper shared more insights about their first meeting, which is quite amusing.
In a recent interview on PEOPLE's WAG WORLD, the Sports Illustrated supermodel, Christen Harper, opened up about how she did not recognize the Detroit Lions quarterback and the journey of how they engaged and built a life together.
"I knew he was a football player," said Christen Harper in an interview via People. "He thinks I lie when I say this, but I didn't know who he was. Also, he was playing for the Rams in LA, which they had just kind of got back to LA. They weren't that big of a deal there yet."
Although Jared Goff was already the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and QB of the Los Angeles Rams, the franchise was still developing. The Rams had only recently returned from St.Louis and had not yet built the hype it enjoys today.
As a result, Harper's failure to identify Goff on their first date is not as surprising as it might seem. Goff came to pick her up and went to Harper's favorite restaurant.
Over the years, Goff has joked about Harper's claim while she genuinely did not know who he was. It's been about seven years, and the relationship continues to grow, becoming one of the NFL's most admired couples.
Meanwhile, Goff has turned into one of the league's most respected veteran QBs, leading the Lions with 4,564 passing yards and 34 touchdowns last season.
Goff and Harper tied the knot in 2024, and their genuine connection is visible both on and off the field.

Christen Goff shared that game days to her as a QB's wife are far more intense than many fans realize. She experiences every snap, drive, and result with the same level of investment as those on the field.
"I definitely am fully locked in," Christen tells WAG World host Skyler Caruso. "Game day is not like, I don't know, butterflies and roses. We're locked in. It's my game day, too."
Christen stressed the emotional commitment that comes with supporting a professional athlete. She wants him to stay safe, healthy, and have a positive outcome.
Harper has supported his husband throughout his career, including his move from the Rams to the Detroit Lions in 2021.
Her statement offers a glimpse into dedication, nerves, and support that define life with one of the most prominent QBs in the NFL.
