Who Are Kenyon Sadiq’s Parents?

Sadiq was born on March 4, 2005, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA, and was raised by a single mother along with his two siblings. His mother has been a steady, supportive presence throughout his life. Sadiq's grandmother, Alaina Pledger, has had a major impact on his life.

He returned to Idaho Falls in high school to help care for her while she battled cancer. The Oregon TE also had a Grandfather, Terry Pledger, who was a major influence on Kenyon’s football life.

How Did Kenyon Sadiq Get Into Football?

Pledger was a respected coach and a three-sport athlete at Pocatello High School. The man also won the state basketball championship in 1969. He played offensive tackle in football, but injuries ended his collegiate career. But he made sure his grandson lived that dream.

He was the first one to put football into Sadiq's hands. "He's the reason I'm here today, honestly. I feel like I'm kind of living out his dream too," Kenyon once said. In 2023, his grandfather passed away soon after his first touchdown for Oregon. But since then, he often prays for him before every game.

Sadiq started playing football in fourth grade as a running back, but by his freshman year at Marsh Valley High, he had transitioned to tight end. Over his junior season, he tallied 79 receptions for 1,166 yards and 19 touchdowns, earning recognition as a four-star recruit and the top overall recruit in Idaho. After that, he committed to the Oregon Ducks.

Kenyon Sadiq Created History at the 2026 NFL Combine

Kenyon Sadiq posted a time of 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine on Friday. That is the fastest recorded by a tight end since at least 2003.

His time broke the previous record of 4.40 seconds, which was set by Vernon Davis in 2006 and later matched by Dorin Dickerson in 2010. His other metrics also stood out.
