The Detroit Lions are heading into the new season with plenty of expectations on their shoulders. After a disappointing 2025 campaign, Dan Campbell and his players are determined to show that last season was simply a setback.

Campbell believes his team is ready for the challenge. Speaking ahead of the season opener on the St. Brown, the Lions head coach highlighted the talent and depth across his roster.

"We will be ready. We will be ready. We will be a formidable foe for any opponent that gets ready to face us. It's been an outstanding training camp. We got weapons & we got an army on the O-Line and D-Line. So we will be ready starting Week 1."

That's quite the message from Campbell. The Lions have plenty of weapons on offense, and their offensive and defensive lines should provide a strong foundation.

Now, they need to turn that confidence into results. Detroit has Super Bowl aspirations, and the season opener will provide the first opportunity to prove they are ready.

Dan Campbell has a unique plan for the Lions at RB

The Lions lost David Montgomery this offseason, leaving a significant hole behind Jahmyr Gibbs. Montgomery formed one half of a devastating duo with Gibbs, making his departure particularly notable.

However, Campbell has already revealed his plan for replacing that production. Rather than naming one player as RB2, he intends to form a committee featuring Jacob Saylors and Sione Vaki.

Both players are expected to receive opportunities whenever Gibbs needs a breather. Campbell also values their contributions on special teams, giving Detroit another reason to keep both involved.

It's an interesting experiment for the Lions. If Saylors and Vaki can provide consistent support, Detroit's offense could remain dangerous throughout the season.
