Detroit Lions' new signing, running back Isiah Pacheco, brings a championship pedigree to Detroit. Pacheco's recent praise of the Lions RBs coach is drawing comparisons to how two-time Super Bowl winner Eric Bieniemy is praised.

Pacheco opened up about the detail-heavy coaching style of new RB coach Tashard Choice, which reminds him of the standard under Bieniemy, as per Kevin Mitchell writing for El Balad.

 “First and foremost, pinpointing the details in the work and coming out here and executing at a high level,” Pacheco said at minicamp about Tashard. “But most importantly, [it's] not making the same mistake twice—coming out and being better from that mistake..."

This standard, which starts with not repeating the same mistakes, is something Isiah Pacheco associates with Bieniemy, as per Kevin Mitchell writing for El Balad.

Bieniemy was the offensive coordinator on Pacheco's former team, the Kansas City Chiefs, from 2018 to 2022, and won his first championship with the Chiefs in 2020.

Pacheco himself was drafted as a seventh-round pick in 2022, and the duo lifted the 2023 Super Bowl together at KC before Bieniemy went to the Washington Commanders.

Pacheco went on to win another championship with the Chiefs the following season and has now signed a one-year deal with the Lions. He is expected to act as a backup for running back Jahmyr Gibbs in the 2026 season.

In his brief time with the Lions, Pacheco has been impressed with Tashard Choice, who joined Detroit after a brief stint at the Texas Longhorns as an RB coach.

 "The coach has pinpointed all the details at a high level. He loves the game," Pacheco further praised Choice as per Kevin Mitchell writing for El Balad. "You can tell by his coaching. He's determined.”

Pacheco's words are eerily similar to how the KCC players are talking about Eric Bieniemy's return to KC.

Pacheco's words validate what former team players think

Whatever Isiah Pacheco has said about Detroit Lions' new RB coach can be said about Eric Bieniemy if you just remove the name from the quotes, as FanSided editor Matt Conner wrote for Arrowhead Addict.

"It really focuses you in on what you’re learning, and the little details of things," three-time Super Bowl winner and KCC QB Patrick Mahomes said of Eric Bieniemy. "That first meeting had me wanting to run through a brick wall; it had me ready to go.”

The Chiefs brought in Super Bowl LX MVP and former Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III as an upgrade over Isiah Pacheco. Walker joins the Chiefs on a three-year, $43.05 million contract, per Sportrac. He even had similar praise for Bieniemy.

"He was talking about everything I needed to be detailed at. He's got high standards," Kenneth Walker III expressed, per Matt Conner. "That's good if you want to be better."

These comparisons will surely excite Lions fans. They'll be hopeful that their RBs coach, Tashard Choice, can replicate the kind of success Eric Bieniemy has had in his career with a similar level of standards.
