Amid the arrest of the Detroit Lions star cornerback Terrion Arnold, his return to the gridiron is in limbo, leaving a key position vacant in the Lions' roster. 

Ahead of the 2026 NFL season, Emmett Matasovsky of the Detroit Lions on SI proposed the top ten options for the Motor City team that could fill the void following the arrest of Arnold.

Rasul Douglas, the Miami Dolphins 

A veteran known for his aggressive, vision-based play style and excellent route recognition. After playing in 15 games and recording two interceptions for Miami in 2025, the physical outside corner has the 6 ft 1 in size, instincts, and ball skills to step into the immediate CB role requirement.

Trevon Diggs, the Green Bay Packers

Trevon Diggs remains one of the highest-upside options available for the Lions despite recent injuries. The former All-Pro once led the NFL with 11 interceptions, and at just 28, his athleticism and playmaking ability could revive his career in the Lions’ aggressive defense.

Adoree Jackson, the Philadelphia Eagles

Jackson is known for his versatility, experience, and dependable coverage skills after nine NFL seasons. He appeared in 14 games for the Eagles in 2025 while recording an interception. His ability to contribute on special teams could make him a valuable short-term replacement for Arnold.

Tre’Davious White, the Buffalo Bills

His stats back up his claim for the role in the Lions. The former All-Pro finally played 16 games again in 2025 after dealing with a series of injuries. If he remained injury-free, White could provide the Lions with veteran leadership.

Shaq Griffin, the Seattle Seahawks

Griffin has remained a reliable veteran while spending the past few seasons with playoff contenders. The former Pro Bowler also won a Super Bowl in Seattle, giving Detroit an experienced outside corner who can step in whenever needed.

Desmond King, the Baltimore Ravens 

An unconventional potential addition in the Lion King is known for his versatility, which makes him an intriguing option. Although retired in 2025, the former All-Pro has hinted at a comeback. His experience at both safety and corner, combined with strong football instincts, could offer the Lions valuable defensive depth.

Jeff Okudah, the Minnesota Vikings

A possible reunion with Okudah, who joined the Lions in 2020. Although his first stint with the Lions never met expectations, injuries played a major role. After spending 2025 with the Vikings, the former top-five pick still possesses the physical tools to compete for meaningful snaps.

DiCaprio Bootle, the Detroit Lions

Bootle never received a real opportunity after suffering a season-ending injury before the 2025 campaign began, but this might change in 2026. Familiar with Lions’ grit system and coaching staff, Bootle could return as a low-risk depth option eager to prove he deserves a permanent roster spot.

Arthur Maulet, the Detroit Lions

Maulet is already familiar with Aaron Glenn's defensive system and has proved his value during his time with the Motor City team. His interception against the Buccaneers showcased his instincts, while his versatility and competitiveness make him a reliable depth option.

Emmanuel Moseley, the Detroit Lions 

Injuries, rather than performance, derailed almost entirely Emmanuel Moseley's Detroit tenure. After spending 2025 out of football, the experienced corner could seek one more opportunity. If he remained healthy, he could fill the void immediately with familiarity with the organization and valuable veteran experience in the secondary.
