“That’s your guys’ job”: Jared Goff drops blunt response over bold Amon-Ra St.Brown question

Ever since Goff got traded to the Lions in 2021, his relationship with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on the field has been immaculate. However, they don’t always get the praise they deserve, a narrative that Goff is now openly questioning.

When asked about how it was to work with St. Brown, Goff called him the best wide receiver in the league. However, when he was asked by Steve Wyche about why the two-time first-team All-Pro didn’t get the plaudits he deserved, Goff did not hold back.

“I don’t know, man,” Goff replied on the Insiders on NFL Network. “That’s your guys’ job.”

The comment, which was made on The Insiders on the NFL Network, drew laughter from hosts Wyche and Stacey Dales, who both agreed with Goff.

This exchange occurred right after Goff had complimented St. Brown for not just being the best at his position but also for the contributions he makes in every aspect of the game, both on and off the field.

"I think he's the best wide receiver in the league. He's the only guy who catches with it, runs with it, blocks. Does everything. He can do it all. And it's a lot of fun to work with them and to play with them," Goff said on the Insiders on NFL Network. "He's just such a great teammate, great player, great person. And I love playing with him."

St. Brown is the only wide receiver in the league to have three consecutive seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdown catches, the first to do so in Lions history.

If St. Brown records one more such season, he will tie Lions legend and Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson for the most 1,000-yard, 10-touchdown seasons in franchise history.

Under head coach Dan Campbell, St. Brown has firmly entered the conversation regarding the league's elite pass-catchers. In fact, it might be time to debate whether he is outright the best wide receiver in football.

Meanwhile, the combination of Jared Goff and St. Brown continues to be recognized as a top-five offensive duo in the league

Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown ranked as top-five NFL offensive duo

Since the hiring of Dan Campbell as head coach, the Lions have turned into one of the best offensive teams in the league. A major reason for that is the duo of Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown.

This was proved by Lou Scatagalia of NFL Spin Zone’s ranking of the league’s best quarterback and wide receiver duos, as they were ranked fourth overall.

“With the Lions being so efficient at throwing the ball all over the place, it helps that St. Brown is someone Goff can rely on for 6-10 receptions per game,” wrote Scatagalia.

The duo was ranked below the Seattle Seahawks duo of Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Cincinnati Bengals duo of Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase, and the Los Angeles Rams duo of Matthew Stafford and Puka Nacua.

Goff being one of the best passers in the NFL and St. Brown being a high-volume wide receiver have helped with them being ranked so high.

With the Lions also possessing even more firepower on offense with the likes of wide receiver Jameson Williams, tight end Sam LaPorta, and running back Jahmyr Gibbs, having a duo such as Goff and St. Brown could help the Lions finally win their first-ever Super Bowl.
