Since the NFL schedule release, every franchise and its fans have had a lot to process. Some teams look at their slate and feel optimistic, while many others are far less pleased. Detroit Lions fans fall into the latter category this time around.

This season, the Lions have their bye week in Week 6. That means the team will have to navigate the final stretch of the season without a break, playing 12 straight games.

“Because the bye is so early, the Lions will play three games in the span of 11 days starting with the international game. This will be challenging for the team, as they now will be forced to maintain their elite performance in a stretch that could define their season,” Christian Booher of the Detroit Lions on SI reported.

What adds to the concern is their Week 10 matchup, which is scheduled in Munich, Germany. That game comes against the defending Super Bowl champions, the New England Patriots, making the challenge even steeper.

For a team trying to maintain its gritty identity under head coach Dan Campbell, the schedule presents a serious test.

However, there is also a positive angle to consider. In the 2024 season, the Lions had an early bye in Week 5. Still, they managed to reach the playoffs, even though their run ended in the divisional round.

More importantly, they finished their final 13 games with an impressive 12-1 record that season.

Still, as Detroit prepares for the upcoming season, fans have made it clear they are not happy with the league’s decision regarding the bye week.

Lions Fans Slam Early Bye As Schedule Concerns Grow

After their Week 6 bye, the Lions are set to play five away games, and fans believe the schedule offers very little recovery time.

“Wow that’s garbage,” one fan commented.

Another fan questioned the logic behind the early bye, reacting with a surprised baby GIF.

“Why the f*** we got an early bye??” another fan wrote, echoing the frustration shared across the fanbase.

Some even took a more humorous route to express their concerns, suggesting the team would be exhausted well before the season ends.

“Week 17,” a fan posted, alongside a SpongeBob GIF showing visibly tired eyes.

“Ridiculous lmao,” another added.

A few fans also pointed out the potential long-term impact on the roster, especially if injuries begin to pile up during the long stretch without rest.

“In Week 13, we will have all third-stringers by then, with that bye week,” one fan wrote.

The reaction reflects a growing concern that while the Lions have proven their resilience before, this year’s schedule might push them to their limits.
