Former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold cleared a major hurdle in his bid to return to the NFL on Friday after a Florida judge ruled he will not have to wear a GPS tracker while out on bond, allowing him to continue visiting interested teams.

According to Xuan Thai of ESPN, prosecutors asked the court to reconsider Arnold's bond conditions after the Lions cut him. Judge Jeffrey Rich rejected that request. After the decision, Arnold's agent, Nicole Lynn, explained how stricter bond conditions could derail his chances of signing.

"He actually had a workout with the team, an NFL team, just yesterday. So he was in their facility, they paid for him to fly in, he did a physical, which shows you how serious these teams are about him," Lynn told the court. 

Her testimony highlighted that interest in Arnold hasn't slowed despite his ongoing legal case.

Lynn testified that the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Seattle Seahawks, and New York Jets all contacted her within 24 hours of Arnold becoming a free agent.

"With an ankle monitor, it would be extremely difficult and maybe even impossible for him to get a job,” Lynn added, as per Xuan Thai of ESPN. 

She also revealed the former first-round pick worked out for Houston this week and has another visit scheduled with a different team.

While Lynn stressed there is no agreement in place, she told the court there is "a very good likelihood" Arnold signs with an NFL team within the next 45 days.

The ruling also renewed conversation about Arnold's chances of landing with a new team.

Nick Saban's support could help Arnold's comeback

After details from the hearing became public, Houston radio host Landry Locker suggested Nick Saban's endorsement could carry weight with teams considering Arnold.

"The Texans value the opinion of Nick Saban, and if he's going to bat for him, that means something," Locker wrote on X. "He's gonna get a second chance, and at some point, a good culture should allow you to bring in guys getting second chances."

Locker's comments came after NFL insider Ari Meirov reported that Arnold had already worked out for the Texans and remained on track to sign with another team in the coming weeks.

Saban, who coached Arnold at Alabama from 2021 through 2023, also submitted a letter supporting his former player during the bond proceedings.

"I write this letter because of the exceptional character I witnessed in Terrion Arnold over the more than six years I have known him," Saban wrote, according to 247Sports.

Arnold remains free on a $1 million bond as his legal case continues, but Friday's ruling removes a significant hurdle as he works toward signing with another NFL team.
