Taylor Decker Linked With AFC Franchise as NFL Veteran Stays Loyal To Lions

A new potential destination has finally emerged for Taylor Decker as interest builds from the Kansas City Chiefs.
According to NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the AFC franchise is looking for an offensive tackle, and Taylor Decker could be a potential fit.
“I keep getting told that the Chiefs really like Trent Williams, but Taylor Decker could be their move,” said Canfora.

Post his release from the Detroit Lions, Decker had an interview with Justin Rogers of the Detroit Football Network at his residence in Arizona.
During the interview, he accused the front office of abandoning him and showed his frustration.
But with all this, he was determined not to play for any rival team, that is, the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.
"I will tell you that he’s pretty anti-playing for the Bears and Packers…but Taylor feels kinda dirty about the idea…." Rogers said of Decker.
He has made it clear he doesn’t want to damage his legacy in Detroit. But now new avenues of opportunities are opening for him, and the Kansas City Chiefs are a viable landing spot.
Known for his durability and long-tenured offside protection for the quarterback, Jared Goff. He can provide a short-term solution to the Chiefs’ left tackle problem.
Decker can again be deployed as a reliable, veteran blind-side protector for Patrick Mahomes.
Although the speculations were made around the San Francisco 49ers' left tackle Trent Williams, the GM Brett Veach would go for Taylor Decker.
Trent Williams vs Taylor Decker Debate For Chiefs Left Tackle Spot
For the Kansas City Chiefs, this decision comes down to ceiling versus reliability.
LT Trent Williams is still operating at an elite level, posting a 91.5 PFF grade over 996 snaps, with a dominant 92.8 run-block grade and a solid 79.9 in pass protection.
Add in his reputation for rare athleticism, strength, and longevity, and he’s still one of the best left tackles in football. However, his availability can become a big issue.
Injuries have started to creep in, and at this stage, durability becomes part of the evaluation.
On the other side, Taylor Decker brings stability.
His 67.9 PFF grade across 894 snaps, with a 69.5 pass-block and 62.1 run-block grade, doesn’t jump off the page, but he’s been consistent. Decker has played through his persistent shoulder injury.
Like Williams, he’s recorded 89 tackles, showing his physical presence, but his game is more about reliability than dominance. For Kansas City, it’s a choice. Go elite with risk, or steady with certainty.
