Marking ‌his last day in the Lions' cleats on March 09, 2026, Detroit Lions left tackle Taylor Decker remains unsigned. Now, Brad Berreman of the Side Lion Report has called him out for his unprepared decision.

“Decker's decision to ask for his release, again without knowing how much of a financial haircut the Lions wanted him to take, already looks pretty bad as he lingers available deep into May,” Berreman wrote.

Right after the reports came out of a “steep pay cut” on Decker’s return on his 11th season, he decided to part his ways with the Lions, per Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

But according to Berreman, Decker made his decision to leave the Motor City team in a hurry, without considering the pay cut that the Lions were offering him.

Without knowing his worth, it is now difficult for him to land on a team. But Alex Kay of the Bleacher Report may have some good news for him in the name of the Cleveland Browns.

“To finish their offensive line renovations—which included taking Spencer Fano at No. 9 overall in the draft, trading for Tytus Howard, and signing both Elgton Jenkins and Zion Johnson—the Browns should make a run at veteran left tackle Taylor Decker," Kay said. 

The Browns are rebuilding their offensive lineup after missing the 2025 NFL playoffs with a 5-12 record, and Decker could be their solution, per Kay.

Taylor Decker brings flexibility to the O-line of play as a left tackle or right tackle. The 2016 NFL draft brings‌ a veteran presence that the Browns lack.

"Decker's presence would provide flexibility for an O-line that might have to shuffle the deck several times this season to find the best possible configuration,” Kay said. 

Decker’s decision not to play under the banner of any NFC North team has reduced his chances of a new contract, but the Browns could be a ray of hope for him.

Taylor Decker Linked With Potential Move After Lions Exit

While the teams are on the ground, taking part in the OTAs, the former Motor City star, Taylor Decker, still awaits a new home.

Based on the recent reports published by Alex Kay of the Bleacher Report, there are more potential options for Decker, not just the Browns.

The other potential spots for Decker are the Chicago Bears and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Ben Johnson is looking for a replacement for Ozzy Trapilo, who is suffering from a severe knee injury. For them, Decker could immediately start in the familiar environment with Johnson. 

The Kansas City Chiefs are suffering from a pass protection issue. With Decker on the roster, they can utilize his proven pass-blocking efficiency score, which has never dropped below 96.0

Although Decker has said no to the divisional rivals of the Detroit Lions, but his landing spot is still uncertain.
