A rookie quietly earned Dan Campbell’s trust, and now he’s becoming hard to ignore. The young playmaker’s six-touchdown campaign has positioned him as a key piece moving forward.
During the 2026 Annual League Meeting at the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix, Dan Campbell acknowledged that wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa has caught his attention.
“We really like TeSlaa. We feel like he's taken off," head coach Dan Campbell said at the Annual League Meetings this week. "You'd be hard-pressed to say that he didn't make the most growth of any rookie.”

Isaac TeSlaa was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Arkansas with the 70th overall pick (third round). While playing in all 17 games, he scored 6 touchdowns.
"It's not easy for a receiver. It's not easy for any of them, but all that we've asked of him,” Campbell said while comparing his growth to defensive lineman Tyleik Williams and right guard Tate Ratledge.
TeSlaa is known for his athleticism and conversion of receptions to touchdowns. In the last season, he emerged as a reliable red-zone threat.
The Lions took a bet on him, and the results speak for themselves. The Motown team spent a significant amount of draft cap on getting him last year. They also sacrificed two 2026 third-round picks to select TeSlaa.
How Isaac TeSlaa Fits Into Dan Campbell's Offensive Plans
Isaac TeSlaa isn’t just a depth piece; his usage already shows where he fits as a wide receiver.
He was already a collegiate success, at Hillsdale College, he was named the 2022 GMAC Offensive Player of the Year after recording 1,325 yards and 13 touchdowns.
All this matters for Jared Goff. Inside the 20, Detroit needs receivers who can finish drives, not just move the chains. TeSlaa’s ability to convert touches into scores gives him a defined role in those situations.
He’s still a developmental prospect, not a volume-heavy athlete yet, but the Lions don’t need him to lead in targets; they need reliability in key moments. With his growth and efficiency, his snap share is likely to increase.
If that trend continues, he shifts from a situational red-zone option to a consistent contributor in the offensive rotation.
