Some of the Detroit Lions' star players revealed which female athletes they look up to.
Isaiah Pacheco, the two-time Super Bowl-winning running back, mentioned Serena Williams as his favorite female athlete.
“She’s the best of the best," Pacheco said in his praise for the star tennis player. "During adversity, she always seems to come out on top."
Others like Larry Borom, Greg Dortch, Damone Clark, and Malcolm Rodriguez also picked the legendary Grand Slam winner and gave different reasons. They spoke of her never-give-up attitude and always being competitive at a high level.
Lions wide receiver Tom Kennedy took a different road and picked one of the best female basketball players in recent times as his favorite.
“Probably Caitlin Clark," he said. "I’m sure there are a few in the Olympics, but I would say, Caitlin Clark.”
The former Iowa Hawkeye went number one overall in the 2024 WNBA draft. In her young career, Clark has two All-Star selections to her name. The Iowa native also won the Rookie of the Year award in 2024. She is still the overall top scorer in NCAA Div-I basketball, with 3,951 points
The star female athletes also found a fan in the New England Patriots
What did this quarterback say about both Serena Williams and Caitlin Clark?
Serena Williams and Caitlin Clark do not belong to the same era, but are part of an extremely elite club. Williams retired and is considered one of the best to have ever graced the sport. Clark will be in the same conversations when she decides to call it a day.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots quarterback, who appeared in the most recent Super Bowl, had some special words to say about both of them. When asked about which female athlete he'd want to catch a touchdown from, he picked Serena Williams and Caitlin Clark.
The quarterback said, “You know, (I’ve) gotten into tennis a little more. A lot of respect to Serena Williams. She’s maybe one of the greatest of all time, the greatest female athletes of all time.”
“Then I heard Caitlin Clark was pulling for us in the playoffs," Maye added. "So, hopefully catching a touchdown from Caitlin Clark would be cool. I know she’s a baller.”
This sure will be one crossover fans will be excited to see!
