The Detroit Lions will open their season against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, with one weapon drawing attention.

Ahead of the matchup, Saints head coach Kellen Moore spoke to reporters. Asked if Amon-Ra St. Brown would be a good test for Jonas Sanker, Moore praised the Lions star:

“Well, I'd say he's one of the premier receivers in our league. He obviously plays a lot of times in slot; he can play all over the field. His versatility, his route detail, his ability to catch the football in contested situations. His run blocking is as good as anyone in this league. I think a lot of receivers in our league can learn from him. A lot of players can learn from him. And so it'll be a fun test.”

For the Saints, containing St. Brown could prove to be one of their biggest challenges when the regular season gets underway.

Amon-Ra St. Brown's numbers speak for themselves

After another productive year, Amon-Ra St. Brown enters his sixth NFL season.

He finished 2025 with 117 receptions for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning his fourth Pro Bowl selection. The Lions wideout was also named Second-Team All-Pro.

St. Brown has surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in four straight seasons. He has 547 receptions through five years, making him one of Detroit’s most reliable offensive weapons.

St. Brown did not register a catch in the 2026 preseason, with the Lions keeping him out of their exhibition games.

He will now look to make an immediate impact against New Orleans.
