Jared Goff is many things for the Detroit Lions. A celebration guy is not one of them.
That much was made clear on the latest episode of The St. Brown Podcast, posted on July 23, when Amon-Ra St. Brown was asked a simple question: would he ever include his quarterback in one of the team's touchdown celebrations? His answer was short, and it wasn't exactly a vote of confidence.
"Bro, I would love to get Jared in on the cellies, but my man really don't have no rhythm," St. Brown said.
The comment from the St.Brown podcast is not a knock so much as a running joke that's followed Goff for years in Detroit. The Lions have built a reputation around their creative, high-energy celebrations following big plays, with skill players like St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs and others regularly choreographing new routines. Goff, by most accounts, has never really been part of that world.

St. Brown didn't frame it as a problem. If anything, it's just an accepted fact of who Goff is as a teammate. The comment fits a larger pattern for Goff, who has built his reputation in Detroit on substance over style. He's not the quarterback throwing up signature poses or leading dance routines. He's the one delivering the ball on time, running the offense with precision, and letting the celebration belong to whoever made the play.
Goff has never positioned himself as a hype-man, and it doesn't appear that's changing anytime soon. If St. Brown's comment is any indication, the Lions' celebrations will keep happening with or without their quarterback front and center, and everyone seems fine with that arrangement.

Amon-Ra St. Brown gets the title of "best" receiver
In an interview with NFL Network this week, as posted by Pride of Detroit, the Lions QB Goff made his stance clear.
"I think he's the best wide receiver in the league," Goff said.“I think he’s the only guy who catches with it, runs with it, blocks—does everything. He can do it all.”
The numbers back it up. Since 2022, St. Brown ranks first among all receivers in receptions (457), fourth in receiving yards (5,340) and third in touchdowns (39). He's also tied for the most First-Team All-Pro nods and Pro Bowl selections over that span.
Despite that resume, St. Brown often gets left out of top-three conversations, with names like Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb regularly ranked above him. Asked why that is, Goff didn't take the bait.
"I don't know, man. That's your guys' job," he said.
For Goff, the debate is already settled.
