Green Bay Packers linebacker Micah Parsons had endorsed Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on the NFL Top 100 list in early June 2026. Williams was recently asked about what he felt about the whole incident. He gave his honest take on the matter.
"Obviously it's good jokes; we are football players on opposite teams, so it's a little rivalry," said Williams, as found in the video posted by NFL analyst Dov Kleiman on X on June 12. "But nothing taken to heart and things like that."
However, when asked about whether he would vote for a Packer as the best player, came his bold message.
"Probably not," replied the quarterback. "But that's on my side of how I do things."
Parsons was reportedly asked who should be ranked No. 1 in a teaser for NFL Network’s Top 100 Players survey, and taking everyone by surprise, he named Williams. According to Parsons, Williams earned the “best player” remark by speeding up his game and playing more confidently.
The quarterback, however, did not see any player from Green Bay hold a top place in his ranking.
The two franchises have clashed time and again. Their last meeting happened in January this year. Williams led the Bears to a thrilling 31-27 victory in the opening round of the playoffs.
However, Parsons was sidelined due to a season-ending injury. So, the duo's last face-off came on December 21, 2025, during a regular-season game where the Bears defeated the Packers 22-16.
Williams has over +7,000 yards in his career and 47 touchdowns. Parsons, on the other hand, has been exemplary as a linebacker. His career of 77 games saw him make 191 solo tackles and 75 tackles for loss.
So the duel between these two will be exciting in the 2026 season. More so since Williams is evolving as a locker room leader for the Bears
Caleb Williams Embracing Leadership Roles In Chicago
Williams is looking ready to have a breakout campaign under Ben Johnson in 2026. Johnson is known for channeling an offensive system that emphasizes creativity, pre-snap motion, and quarterback-friendly concepts. This will invariably allow Williams to fully utilize his arm talent and playmaking ability.
"His portion of that is to be the best leader this team can get from the quarterback position," said Johnson on Williams. "[Lift] this offense to the next level. Be a good, supportive teammate throughout the whole thing."
Apart from Johnson, the other coaches have also noted that Williams has had more influence over the huddle. His teammates, too, have given him full praise for his leadership and communication skills.
The Bears and the Packers will be facing each other twice this season, once in October and then in December.
