The 2026 season is special for wide receiver Greg Dortch, who will be playing for a new franchise, the Detroit Lions. However, before he suits up for the Lions, this offseason has been extremely special for Dortch, who revealed some personal news with his fans.

The official announcement was made through an Instagram story posted by Dortch on his Instagram account on May 9.

“Can’t wait to meet my little girl!! 🙏” Dortch wrote on his Instagram story, posting a picture.

It was then shared by The Detroit Times on X.

"CONGRATULATIONS: Lions WR Greg Dortch announced on IG that him and his fiancée are expecting their first child together 🥳" wrote The Detroit Times.

The picture captured two onesies with the No.8 jersey, a pair of tiny sneakers, and two ultrasound baby images.

Two months back, Dortch proposed to his fiancée on March 14, where the couple made the day special by enjoying dinner in a picturesque setting.

"From This Day Forward.. 🤍" read the caption of the post where Dortch posted the pictures from their proposal.

The 2026 off-season has been extremely special for Dortch after he had gone through a rough phase in the past couple of months.

Dortch has worked hard to mark his place in the league through confidence and versatility. He is known for his speed and ability to play as a receiver as well as a return specialist. But the end of the last season has been difficult as he landed on the Arizona Cardinals' injury reserve in December.

He suffered a chest injury and was ruled out of the game on the team's final injury report. With this, Dortch's 2025 season came to an end. But for the 2026 season, he decided to start things with a new program.

Greg Dortch Signs A One-Year Contract With The Detroit Lions

Dortch signed a one-year contract on March 18, 2026, as a wide receiver and a return specialist. He entered the league as an undrafted free agent from Wake Forest Demon Deacons football in 2019 and has since had stints with the New York Jets, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams, Atlanta Falcons, and Cardinals.

Now, he heads to the Lions as the sixth stop in his NFL journey. The Detroit deal comes with a reunion chance for Dortch. He played the previous five seasons for the Cardinals, and the last three years for Drew Petzing as offensive coordinator.

So, this factor pushed him to sign with the Lions as Petzing too will be coaching in Detroit from this season.

"Obviously just the comfortable factor, the trust, the success that I've had with him being my OC, the three years together," Dortch said. "Drew's very smart. He knows exactly how to get people the ball, as well as Kalif Raymond taking another job somewhere else. I seen that the spot was vacant."

The Lions also needed a receiver and returner who could immediately be beneficial to the offense and special teams. Therefore, he signed a one-year contract of $1.4 million, according to Sportrac.

Now, Dortch will be competing for his spot behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Isaac TeSlaa. However, he got the motivation this offseason to put up a strong fight.
