Notre Dame has reserved alternate uniforms for special occasions, and their latest reveal is no exception.

The Fighting Irish open their 2026 season against Wisconsin at Lambeau Field on September 6. To honor the Green Bay Packers, Notre Dame has unveiled a special jersey celebrating the franchise's rich heritage.

According to ESPN's J.J. Post, the design draws inspiration from the 1920s Acme Packers, utilizing a matching shade of deep blue paired with vintage-style sleeve stripes. It also highlights several shared figures, including Curly Lambeau, who played under Knute Rockne, and Hall of Famer Paul Hornung, who played for both programs.

Uniforms feature 11 shamrocks stitched into the collar, representing Notre Dame’s 11 consensus national championships, with the most recent coming in 1988, per ESPN.

The reveal video, which was posted on Notre Dame’s X account, emphasized Notre Dame’s identity and had the head coach narrating a message.

“We are the outliers. The small-town legends. The independent spirits who believe tradition isn’t something you just remember. It’s something you wear,” said head coach Marcus Freeman in the video.

For Packers fans, the tribute serves as a reminder of the franchise’s historic connection to Notre Dame. From Lambeau’s playing days under Rockne to Hornung becoming a legend in both South Bend and Green Bay, the relationship between the two programs goes back over a century. 

Packers fans, however, might not be too happy with how their star quarterback was ranked amongst the NFL’s best players.

Jordan Love ranked in the Top 75 out of 100 NFL players

Voted by his peers, the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback was ranked in the NFL’s top 100 players of 2026. After throwing for 3,381 yards and scoring 23 touchdowns, Love secured the 72nd position in the rankings, released by the NFL.

Love, who also recorded a career-best pass completion rate of 66.3%, was ranked behind Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers and above Broncos defensive end Zach Allen.

However, Love’s teammate and star edge-rusher Micah Parsons made his opinion known about the ranking on his personal X account.

“71 players in the NFL aren’t better than Jordan Love!” posted Parsons.

However, the Packers will be hoping for Love to use this as motivation to build on last season and help the Packers make a run for the Lombardi trophy again.
