A key Detroit Lions defender could be on the move to the AFC East. According to an NFL insider, the New York Jets are targeting a Lions cornerback.

Insider Connor Hughes linked the Jets to Amik Robertson, courtesy of their new head coach, Aaron Glenn.

Aaron Glenn has previously worked with the Lions as their defensive coordinator from 2021 to 2024, helping them build one of the best defenses in the NFL.

“Robertson may not be the marquee name fans are hoping for, but he fits the profile of an Aaron Glenn player. The Jets view Robertson as a potential starter next season,” Connor said.

Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic seems to agree. Speaking on a recent episode of “Jets Final Drive,” he said, “The Lions have a cornerback named Amik Robertson. He is more of a nickel, but he and Aaron Glenn are really close. He was really good for the Lions. He is a tough, hard-nosed kid who just buys into everything that Aaron Glenn is selling."

At 27 years old, Robertson is a six-year veteran, having played four seasons for the Las Vegas Raiders and two seasons with the Lions. He started in 17 games and was targeted 97 times, allowing 66 catches for 821 receiving yards with six touchdowns, making him a target for the opposition.

His contract was valued at $9.25 million, and he signed for two years. With the Lions investing in younger cornerbacks, Robertson's fit is questionable, and the team may allow him to leave.

Can the Detroit Lions Lose More Players?

Amik Robertson may not be the only player on the way out from the Lions. According to Zack Rosenblatt, Aaron Glenn may target more players that he used to work with at the Jets.

"From what I’ve been told, the Jets are going to actively try to bring in guys who know what Aaron Glenn is about," said Rosenblatt.

ESPN’s Rich Cimini thinks so too: “I’m surprised that they didn’t bring any of those guys in last year. The only Detroit guy they brought in was the receiver Josh Reynolds, who was just a wasted signing. I think Glenn will bring in a couple of his guys. You need your guys in there.”

“I think he needs to bring in some of his guys, some guys with strong intangibles, who could help the other younger players weather the storm when things turn bad,” he added.
