Apart from stacking up the roster with players like Derrick More and Blake Miller, the Detroit Lions are also bulking up on management personnel. However, their latest addition of Chris Grier to the role of an unspecified “personnel executive” position isn't sitting well with fans.

NFL insider Adam Schefter posted the exclusive piece of information on his X handle, pointing out that Grier is the former General Manager of the Miami Dolphins.

"The Detroit Lions have hired former Dolphins GM Chris Grier as a personnel executive, per league sources," writes Schefter

Grier was previously employed by the Miami Dolphins. He spent a decade there, where they posted five winning seasons.

He is also credited with several high-profile acquisitions like Tyreek Hill, Jalen Ramsey, and Tua Tagovailoa. He helped modernize Miami’s roster but ultimately fell short of delivering sustained playoff success. Grier's final years with the Dolphins ended with a 7-10 record.

While there is curiosity about his appointment, the NFL fans have shown their reservations about this new hiring.

NFL Fans Unsure About Grier's Signing

Detroit Lions' signing up Chris Grier was not taken in appreciatively by the fans. They naturally had a thing or two to say about the matter.

"Sell the Lions, Greer isn’t going to make them any better," said a fan

Seeing Grier take up the front office role after he was relieved of his duties with the Dolphins wasn't comforting to the fans. Grier never won a playoff game in his career.

"Who the heck is this guy? The Detroit Lions could of just went over to Ann Arbor and pulled literally any Master's College Student to do this job and be far better than this guy," lamented another.

Another fan wasn't sure how the signing would fan out for the franchise.

"Don’t know much about this guy and after reading the comments still have no clue if I should be p***** pumped for the lions," the reaction read.

Before his time as general manager, Grier was the director of college scouting for the Dolphins from 2007 15. He served under three different general managers, including Randy Mueller, Jeff Ireland, and Dennis Hickey.

For some other fans, there was also a shock factor involved.

"Fr, how in the actual h*** did he find another FO job? Ran the Dolphins into the ground and gets another job just like that," inquired another fan.

Some fans also pointed out that the signing wasn't made for the same designation.

"Y’all are acting like the Lions bought him in as a GM…relax people," said another fan.

Eventually, Miami had to cut multiple veterans to stay under the cap by 2025. Consequently, the roster became top-heavy but lacked depth.

So the verdict is out, and fans are clearly not pleased. Now, whether Grier can change their mindset with swift, efficient decisions is something that only time will decide.
