The hype around Madden 27 cover star, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, has reached another level, but not everyone is buying it. A recent radio show conversation on Williams sparked heated discussions among the NFL fans.

Stacey Dales, the reporter of NFL Network, appeared on 104.3 The Score and discussed William's growing reputation within the NFC North. While Bears supported the appreciation shared, others argued that Williams has a lot to prove yet.

"The most feared quarterback right now in the division by the rest of the division is Caleb Williams," said Stacey Dales on 104.3 The Score. "This guy is insane.The opposing teams call it Houdini"

The 104.3 The Score's video post drew reactions from fans across the league. Critics pointed to the fact that Williams has only started his NFL journey and has only won a division title, and not made a lasting impact.

"No Lions fan is scared of Caleb Williams. These are professionals?" one fan said.

For many fans, the idea itself was unfathomable.

"the s*** that be k****** me is they be so serious saying this," another fan commented.

One fan in particular brought attention to another time when a quarterback's hype didn't live up.

"These are the same meatballs talking about how the North was afraid of Justin Fields," the user commented.

Fans who agreed with Dales highlighted Williams' impressive 2025 season. He showed elite playmaking ability, planned multiple fourth-quarter comebacks, and showed talent that was similar to Patrick Mahomes(QB).

He set the Bears franchise record for most passing yards with 3,942 yards, breaking Eric Kramer's record.

Dales also mentioned that the opponents often refer to him as "Houdini" because of his ability to extend plays and his constant defensive respect.

The Bears believe that if Williams continues on the same path, he can lead the team to playoff contention. Expectations are rising, and while training Williams, the head coach, Ben Johnson, is confident that he will handle the hype.

Caleb Williams is ready to handle the growing hype that comes with being one of the NFL's biggest stars, according to his head coach. Following a breakout 2025 season, he is welcoming the responsibility of leading the Bears.

“I’m focused on coaching him," said HC Ben Johnson, wrote Micah Huff of Trojans Wire. "This is a guy that’s grown up in football. He’s a Heisman winner, a 5-Star recruit, and he knows how to handle attention. You come to a big city like Chicago with fans that love their sports, it’s what he’s built for.”

The head coach, Ben Johnson, showed confidence in Williams' ability to grow under pressure.

Williams has spent years under the spotlight as he won the Heisman Trophy at USC back in 2022. Johnson stated that attention and expectations are not new for him.

Rather than worrying about the hype, Johnson's focus is on developing Williams as a player. He believes the QB's experience makes him stronger for the challenges that come with being the face of one of the NFL's famous franchises.
