NFL Analyst Weighs In on Blake Miller’s Impact on Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions used the 2026 NFL Draft to continue rebuilding their offensive line, and right tackle Blake Miller is now part of that plan.
Selected at No. 17 from Clemson, he enters a situation where he can compete for a starting role right away. Detroit has been focused on adding youth, strength, and stability up front, and Miller fits that direction.
NFL analyst Erik Schlitt of Pride of Detroit believes Miller could be one of the most important additions to the Lions’ offensive line rebuild.
“Miller uses his wrestling background to control defenders at the point of attack, leveraging his body to anchor against the pass rush and drive-block in the run game,” Schlitt weighed in on his mock-draft write-up. “However, it’s his mental makeup that makes him the perfect fit in Detroit.”

From a physical point of view, Miller checks strong boxes. He is 6-foot-7 with 34.25-inch arm length, 32 bench press reps, and a 9.9 RAS score.
These numbers reflect why scouts viewed him as one of the most NFL-ready tackles in the draft class. The team has been targeting players who can handle physical football, and Miller brings that profile with both talent and mindset.
“He just checks a lot of boxes. Really high floor player. He’s big, he’s tough, he’s smart, he’s a finisher, he has unbelievable football character, work ethic," said the Lions general manager, Brad Holmes. "Everything from a culture standpoint, he fits...When you think about Blake Miller, you sleep easy.”
Holmes also mentioned that Miller will be "starting tackle already." But with Larry Borom signed by the Lions in free agency, Miller won't be placed at right tackle.
Moreover, NFL analyst feedback also adds more clarity to his profile and work ethic coming out of college.
NFL Scout on Blake Miller’s Consistency and Mindset
As the conversation around Blake Miller continues, one NFL scout through The Beast’s Dane Brugler also shed light on Miller's discipline and attitude.
“I think he missed one practice in four years,” said. “The thought of letting down his coaches and teammates kills him.”
This kind of feedback supports why Detroit used a first-round pick on him.
Miller has played 3,778 snaps at Clemson, the most snaps from scrimmage in school history, and earned a 76.8 overall PFF grade.
