NFL analyst snubs Dak Prescott and Jared Goff to make space for Jordan Love

Quarterback rankings always create debates amongst NFL fans and analysts. ESPN’s latest ranking of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league did just that.
However, not everyone agreed with the entire list. NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky argued that Seattle Seahawks’ Sam Darnold or Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love should have been on the list. Another NFL analyst, Peter Bukowski, reacted to this and gave his opinion.
“Goff, Caleb, and Dak,” wrote Bukowski on X. “I’m fine with him at 6 or 7.”
While Bukowski wanted Love at six or seven as per the X post, ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky felt that the top seven of the list were good as is.
“Not having Darnold is the miss… and Love. Other than that, good on the list and once again will reiterate,” wrote Orlovsky on X. “Once you get past the top 7 or so, annually, the next 7-8 guys are for the most part interchangeable depending on their surroundings.”

In ESPN’s ranking, Dak Prescott ranked sixth overall, while Jared Goff and Caleb Williams were ranked ninth and tenth, respectively. Prescott and Goff both recorded over 4,500 passing yards and 30 touchdowns, while Williams recorded 3,942 passing yards and 27 touchdowns.
Love's numbers tell a different story: 3,381 yards and 23 TDs in 14 games, yet he led the Packers to the playoffs.
Love, however, lost to Williams in the Wild Card round of the playoffs after the Bears came back from 21-3 at halftime to win 31-27. While there can be an argument made for Love, the stats conclude otherwise.
However, another ranking has Jordan Love as one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

While ESPN didn’t rank Love among its top 10 quarterbacks in the league, in Pro Football Focus’s Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick’s recent rankings of every starting NFL quarterback, Love was comfortably in the top 10.
Ranking just behind the 2025 NFL MVP, Matthew Stafford, Love was named the sixth-best quarterback.
“He led all qualified quarterbacks in EPA per dropback (0.222), while his 88.7 PFF passing grade and 2.97 Wins Above Replacement (WAR) both ranked among the league’s top three,” wrote the duo. “He also continued to create explosive plays without putting the ball in harm’s way, pairing a 5.9% big-time throw rate (fifth) with a 2.6% turnover-worthy play rate (ninth).”
Love also had an impressive passing grade when there was no pressure, as he had a 94.2 PFF passing grade. He also ranked above Prescott, ranked eighth overall, and Goff, ranked 16th overall.
Despite the huge disparity in his rankings in both lists, there is no doubt that Love is one of the most talented play-callers in the league. It will be interesting to see how Love performs next season and see whether ESPN’s ranking is more accurate or Pro Football Focus’s.
