"Never really struggled against them" - Steelers DB Puts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins on Notice Ahead of Divisional Clash

Imagn

Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have established themselves as one of the NFL’s most dangerous wide receiver duos. Chase recorded 1,412 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025, while Higgins added 846 yards and 11 scores.

The pair has continued producing in 2026. Through two games, Chase has 87 yards and two touchdowns, while Higgins has 154 yards on eight catches. Their combined production has helped the Bengals open the season 2-0.

Yet, one Steelers cornerback appears completely unfazed by the challenge. Joey Porter Jr. has faced Chase and Higgins multiple times during his career, giving him plenty of experience against Cincinnati’s star receivers.

Ahead of Sunday’s AFC North clash, Porter made it clear that he enjoys the matchup. More importantly, he believes he has consistently handled the Bengals duo whenever they have shared the field.

“I’ve never really struggled against them, so it’s always been fun for me going up against those guys.”

That confidence could provide plenty of motivation for Chase and Higgins. Both receivers know exactly what Porter said, and they now have an opportunity to make him regret it when Cincinnati travels to Pittsburgh.

Interestingly, Chase recently delivered his own subtle message toward another elite receiver. While speaking on his Chasing No. 1 show, he questioned why Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba was not receiving more double coverage.

“I seen JSN run a crazy route … why he ain’t getting doubled yet?”

Chase’s comment showed the competitive edge that makes these receiver rivalries so entertaining. Now, Porter has given Chase and Higgins their own piece of bulletin-board material.

Cincinnati’s duo will have a chance to respond on Sunday. If they produce against Pittsburgh, Porter’s confidence could quickly become the center of attention.
