Finally, the most awaited wedding of NFL superstar tight end Travis Kelce and international superstar singer Taylor Swift took place in New York. Over 1,000 people got invited. But some fans are puzzled about Matthew Stafford’s wife, Kelly Stafford, being invited to the wedding.

This is due to a few remarks she made in the past regarding the couple, which a post on X by ML Football has brought her comments to light.

“I don’t know if I want to see another 4 months of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce coverage,” Stafford had said about the couple in May 2024 during an episode of The Morning After podcast, which she hosts with Hank Winchester.

Swift and Kelce got married at Madison Square Garden. The confirmation was given through a wide screen outside the venue with "JUST&T MARRIED!" written on it.

According to People, the Stafford couple was spotted arriving at the venue. However, Kelly's past comments have been catching attention ever since their arrival.

“I watched my husband work his a** off & all these guys who work for the league work their a***** off & all of a sudden they’re like the sideshow,” Kelly had said on the Morning After podcast.

However, it is to be noted that Kelly had changed her view on Swift’s presence at NFL games.

“I’m so thankful for her in a lot of ways. There are so many more women watching,” Kelly added. “Little girls watching with their dads, it definitely makes my girls love football more knowing she’s adjacent to it…At the end of the day, I’m thankful for the entire thing.”

Kelly acknowledged that hers was an impulsive reaction to the situation and insisted that she was a huge fan of the singer. She backed this up by attending a Taylor Swift concert and sharing a thank-you video on October 31.

Despite the past drama, it is clearly all good between the two couples, as proven by the invitation. However, considering the friendship that Kelce and Stafford have, it was to be expected.

Matthew Stafford shares a longstanding friendship with Kelce

Former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was invited to the wedding due to his longstanding friendship with Travis Kelce.

They have been part of the same elite NFL circle for years and know each other very well despite having never played together. Stafford was even seen during Kelce’s bachelor party in May, with both playing golf together at Baker’s Bay in the Bahamas, per an Instagram post by Deuxmoi.

He was also a guest on Kelce’s podcast that he hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, New Heights. Stafford and his wife Kelly have also dressed up as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce for Halloween in 2024, showing the close friendship they both share.
