Lions Urged To Pair Aidan Hutchinson With Shocking NFL Star After Maxx Crosby Update

The Detroit Lions may have missed out on Maxx Crosby, but a new pairing idea is already gaining traction. Now the focus shifts to finding the perfect partner for Aidan Hutchinson, and the name that has emerged is the historic sack record breaker from last year.

With Maxx Crosby out of the picture, suddenly, there is a demand to see Myles Garrett and Aidan Hutchinson paired together at the Detroit Lions’ defensive line.

With the recent developments in the Cleveland Browns regarding Myles Garrett’s contract bonuses being pushed up, a trade is suddenly in the cards.

“Garrett wants out, seems like they are going to give it to him later in the offseason,” Jack Duffin wrote. “No real reason to do it otherwise,” he added.

Following Duffin's remarks, Max Dible of Heavy Sports explored the possibility of the Lions trading for Garrett.

"However, recent developments involving the Cleveland Browns, edge-rusher Myles Garrett, and some strange adjustments to his contract language on Wednesday, March 25, spell good news for any contender interested in taking a Super Bowl swing on a trade for the two-time and defending Defensive Player of the Year," he wrote.

That being said, GM Andrew Berry has quashed all the speculations around Garrett’s trade. While speaking at the 2026 NFL league meeting in Phoenix, Arizona, on Sunday, March 29, he made his stance clear.

“If we wanted to trade Myles, we wouldn’t have needed to make a contract adjustment. So it doesn’t have anything to do with that,” Berry explained. “Myles is a career Brown. He is one of the faces of our organization. I think we’ve been very clear both past and present.”

Pairing Garrett (92.7 PFF grade) with Hutchinson (91.9 PFF grade) would create one of the best pass-rush partnerships in the league.

Coupling this pair with the Lions' offense would immediately reinstate their status as contenders for the Super Bowl.

Why This Move Fits the Lions’ Current Championship Window

The Detroit Lions are in their Super Bowl window, and that puts the focus on maximizing Aidan Hutchinson’s production. Hutchinson plays high snap counts (1,005 in 2025) and generates consistent pressures (100 in the 2025 season).

But offenses counter by sliding protection his way. That limits his impact in key situations, especially on third downs. Enter: NFL's leading sack record-holder for one season (23).

Adding another edge rusher, Myles Garrett, with a similar PFF grade, high snap usage (869), and proven experience, forces offenses to split protection.

That creates more one-on-one matchups and increases total pressure rate without extra blitzing.
