With the growing list of injuries in the defensive lineup, the Detroit Lions are looking for someone to fill the void. Luckily, they already know the player.

On Thursday, the Lions announced the re-signing of defensive end Myles Adams on their social media platforms, which read, "Welcome back, Myles!"

Myles Adams played for the Seattle Seahawks for 4 years before moving to the Lions in 2024. He was later released and re-signed in 2025 to the practice squad. In his career, he has played 29 games with 33 total tackles recorded and 2 sacks.

His current contract is unknown.

From last season, the Lions have dealt with some serious hits to their defensive roster. Starting with veteran defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who broke his tibia and fibula against the Dallas Cowboys, and is expected to return in the offseason. 

In 2025, the Lions ranked 31st in AGL (Adjusted Games Lost). For the second time in a row, the team recorded the most-injured defense in the NFL.

Coach Dan Campbell has, however, defended his training staff. “For whatever reason, we’ve just kind of been hit. I like our training staff. I think they do a hell of a job, I really do. And it’s just, it was a tough year in some areas," said Campbell.

According to SIS, the Lions have missed a total of 304 games in 2025 alone. Although skipper Dan Campbell was happy that the players were able to prevent soft tissue injuries.

Campbell said, “If you’ve got a major soft tissue issue then it’s more than just the player, in my opinion. There’s other factors. We’ve been great. I mean, we do a great job of preparing our players. When you start talking about, ‘It’s an Achilles, it’s a –‘ man, those are, unfortunately, those are freak things.”

However, injuries are not the only defensive concern the Lions face, as they also need their edge rushers to stop the opposition from gaining yards.

Edge Rushing Remains an Issue for the Lions Amid Injury Concerns

The Detroit Lions are addressing two separate defensive concerns at the same time. Injuries have impacted depth on the interior, while the edge rushing unit still lacks a consistent presence opposite Aidan Hutchinson. 

To stabilize the front, the team has taken a layered approach.

The addition of D. J. Wonnum brings rotational pass-rush support, while the re-signing of Myles Adams maintains depth on the interior line. 

The expected return of Alim McNeill strengthens the run defense, and rookie Tyleik Williams adds size and development upside inside.

At the same time, the edge position remains under evaluation. With departures like Lopez, Reader, and Muhammad creating gaps across the defensive front, Detroit is still exploring veteran options, including Cameron Jordan. 

Head coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes are balancing immediate needs with long-term depth to build a defensive line that can hold up over a full season.
