Based on new documents that has surfaced, the situation for Detroit Lions is getting serious, and the stakes are only getting higher.

The story revolves around the Lions' cornerback (CB) Terrion Arnold’s involvement in the February 04 planning of an alleged armed robbery and kidnapping of three victims in Tampa.

According to the evidence records held by the Florida State Attorney’s office, the text messages indicate that Arnold, along with six other co-defendants, was involved. And new evidence indicates that he was the master mind behind the crime.

Based on the prosecutor’s allegations, Boakai Hilton orchestrated the robbery and the beating of three men on behalf of Arnold, with his girlfriend Del Valle [painted by the prosecutor] was the point of contact for instructions. 

Although he hasn’t been charged with any crime, he wasn’t involved in the text messages himself, neither as a sender nor a receiver.

The defendant Arianna Del Valle instructed Jasmine Randazzo, another co-defendant, to invite one of the victims to her house based on Arnold’s instructions.

“That’s what Terrion said,” Del Valle follows up. Once Randazzo agrees, she questions Del Valle about her whereabouts, to which she says, “Terrion.”

This is where things started to change. The conversation continues around to set them [victims] up to take revenge for the robbery they did at Arnold’s house.

In further conversation, Randazzo constantly asked for guidance, and Del Valle guided, which, according to her, was based on Terrion Aronold’s instructions.

The communication between Randazzo and Del Valle pauses at 9:56 p.m. on Feb. 3 and resumes at 12:35 a.m. on Feb. 4.

According to the Largo Police Department, on Feb 03, the thefts included high-end bags, guns, jewelry, a cell phone, and $100,000 in cash.

Arnold was robbed first, twice. The alleged theft was from his rented Airbnb.

Talking to the News on Thursday, R.Timothly Jansen, Arnold’s attorney, shared statements about his role in the case,

"We have not yet been provided with the text messages in question, and it would be inappropriate to comment on isolated excerpts without first reviewing them in their full context,” Jansen said.

"We are aware that law enforcement has conducted an extensive investigation, as reflected in the 49-page criminal information. Notably, our client has not been charged, and based on the evidence currently known, we do not anticipate that any charges will be brought against him,” Jansen added.

"Any suggestion of involvement appears to rest solely on the fact that our client is acquainted with certain individuals connected to this matter. Mere association does not constitute participation in criminal activity. Importantly, there is no evidence, nor any witness testimony, indicating that our client had any involvement," Jansen continues.

The Lions' leadership will most definitely not be happy with the recent developments, as Terrion Arnold is a key piece that the Lions are looking forward to for their 2026 campaign.

“You control what you can control. You’re aware of everything. That’s really about the most I can say about that,” Holmes said.

The six co-defendants happen to be Jasmine Randazzo (19), Arianna Del Valle (18), Lyndell Hudson (26), Christian Williams (24), Boakai Hilton (23), and Terrion Arnold (23). And the victims Yan Lopez [Arnold's occasional driver], Tenesaca, and Anderson. 

Legal Battle Could Impact Lions Future Plans If Charges Lead to Somewhere

If the situation escalates and Terrion Arnold is formally charged, the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy comes into play. 

Under league rules, a player can be placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List while the case is ongoing, which effectively keeps him away from team activities and games. If the case leads to disciplinary action, a suspension could follow, making him unavailable for part or all of the 2026 season.

This creates an immediate concern for the Lions, as the Lions would need him for their 2026 campaign. 

Arnold, who joined the team in 2024 by the Lions, has played for two seasons and appeared in 24 games and logged 312 snaps. 

While his Pro Football Focus grade (50.6) and ranking (97th among 114 qualified cornerbacks) show he is still developing, he remains part of the rotation and depth in the secondary. Losing him wouldn’t just remove a player, it would affect how the Lions manage coverage and matchups during games.

Their whole strategy might crumble as the free agency period is about to get over, their core talents have their contracts renewed, and they have to draft athletes in the 2026 NFL draft. 

Their first option is internal, shifting responsibilities to existing defensive backs and relying on depth players to step into a larger role. 

The second option is the free agency market if they act fast and are able to manage cap space, where short-term signings can help stabilize the position. 

The third is looking ahead to the draft, adding a long-term replacement if the situation becomes more serious.
