A Detroit Lions star has shared a lighthearted take on who he is rooting for in the March Madness. The response has caught attention for its unexpected cross-sport humor.

The conversation around picks and predictions for the 2026 NCAA’s March Madness is at its peak. So, the Lions' social media account decided to ask Jahmyr Gibbs for his picks.

“Nobody," Gibbs replied. "But fun fact I learned Randy Orton’s birthday when I was 8 and never forgot it since, and today marks that day. Happy birthday, Randy Orton (salute and a snake emoji).”

On April 1, 2026, the Lions’ social media team approached Gibbs via DMs and asked about who he was supporting. 

“Jah! Who are you rooting for in the Final Four?” the Lions’ social media team asked.

Instead of giving a direct answer, he pivoted the conversation in a different direction with his response. 

On April 1, 26, the veteran WWE star Randy Orton turned 46. 

He could’ve given a direct answer to the question, but that answer would be as awesome as the one he gave.

Last Saturday, the NCAA Final Four was played between the Arizona Wildcats (73) and Michigan Wolverines (91), and UConn (Connecticut Huskies) (71) and Illinois Fighting Illini (62). 

In their respective events, Michigan and UConn moved to the finals to face each other in the NCAA National Championship finals. Scheduled for April 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis.

But for Gibbs, the funny reply came from a place of love.

Although it was a casual one, Gibbs' answer was not random at all. His love for WWE is not hidden from the NFL universe. 

Gibbs, with his girlfriend Nicole Anderson, has attended multiple WWE events over the years. He attended WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas last year, and the couple dressed as Jeff Hardy and Lita on Halloween.

He was spotted attending WWE Monday Night Raw at Little Caesars Arena in July 2025. 

Apart from Gibbs, other players were also approached. The list included Aidan Hutchinson, Jared Goff, Isaac TeSlaa, Derrick Barnes, DJ Reed, Jameson Williams, and Alim McNeill.

But only Gibbs' response stood out.
