Lions Linked with Potential Joey Bosa Move Ahead of 2026 Campaign

The Detroit Lions are looking for a pass-rushing partner for Aidan Hutchinson. According to ESPN, veteran Joey Bosa could be the answer. The move would add a five-time Pro Bowler to the Lions' defensive front.
While they have been linked with several names, like the Las Vegas Raiders’ Maxx Crosby and the Cincinnati Bengals’ Trey Hendrickson, the 30-year-old veteran might not be a long-term solution, according to ESPN's Matt Bowen.
"The Lions had 16 sacks on third down last, so Detroit could add Bosa to elevate its sub-package pass rush. Bosa, who had five sacks with the Bills in 2025, fits well opposite Aidan Hutchinson with his speed-to-power production and the effort level to clean up late in plays," Bowen wrote.

After spending 8 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, Joey Bosa was signed to the Buffalo Bills to a one-year, $12.6 million deal at the start of the 2025 season.
Despite starting strong with four sacks in his first eight games, he was able to record only one sack for the rest of the season. While Bosa might not be in top shape, he still adds much-needed experience to the Lions squad.
The veteran is a five-time Pro-Bowler and has accumulated 77 career sacks.
Lions Should Act Swiftly, as Bosa Is Also Linked With the 49ers
If the Lions want to pursue Bosa, they may have to do so quickly, as the San Francisco 49ers might also have their eyes set on him.
His brother, 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, suffered an ACL injury last season, leading to them having the lowest number of sacks of all teams in the 2025 season. Greg Auman thinks a family reunion is on the cards.
Greg Auman from FOX Sports predicts, “Joey Bosa should get a deal similar to the $12.6 million he got a year ago. With two playoff wins in 10 years in the league, might he consider taking less to join his brother Nick with the 49ers and try to make a meaningful postseason push?”
