Lions legend raises alarm over Jameson Williams following concerning drop numbers

Jameson Williams' speed makes him a dangerous weapon for the Detroit Lions. However, his recurring drops raise questions about his consistency and development as a complete receiver.

Speaking on The Braylon Edwards Show on Woodward Sports, Lions legend Lomas Brown discussed Williams alongside Edwards and others. Brown warned that the quarterback could turn to other options if he loses confidence in Williams:

“I think if Jared [Goff] loses confidence in throwing it to Jameson, then he's going to lean more towards Isaac Tesla being able to come down.”

The Lions legend also questioned Williams' route execution, wondering whether the receiver consistently reaches the right spot at the right time. He stressed the importance of finishing plays:

“Part of the assignment is making the catch.”

Williams must improve his consistency to maximize his opportunities in Detroit's offense. Continued struggles could also make the quarterback less willing to target him.

NFL veteran identifies a technical flaw in Jameson Williams' ball tracking

Meanwhile, the show's host Braylon Edwards explained how receivers must track deep passes after beating press coverage.

The NFL veteran stressed the importance of looking toward the ball's anticipated path rather than turning toward the quarterback:

“Problem is, when you turn the 20, you don't look back like this [makes gesture]. When you turn the 20, I'm looking here [makes gesture].”

Edwards explained that receivers must develop the habit of tracking the ball with the correct line of sight. Looking in the wrong direction can make it harder to locate an incoming pass.

Jameson Williams' speed gives him a threat downfield, but he must convert those opportunities into catches. Better execution could help address the Lions' concerns surrounding his consistency.
