Blake Miller is about to make his NFL debut, and the rookie offensive tackle faces a massive test in Week 1.
Detroit has given Miller plenty to learn before his first regular-season snap. He has worked against different types of rushers and must now carry those lessons into a game.
Dan Campbell has seen enough to offer an intriguing assessment of what those reps could mean for Miller. The Lions head coach highlighted the value of exposing the rookie to different challenges before the real test arrives:
“The more he faces some of these guys, whether it's length, whether it's speed, it's a band, he'll just continue to grow.”
That could prove important for Miller as he begins his NFL career.

Dan Campbell has watched Blake Miller work through demanding reps against D.J. Wonnum and Aidan Hutchinson. Those matchups have given the rookie different looks before his debut.
That variety should help Miller adjust to rush styles. It also gives him a chance to apply what he has learned under pressure.
Campbell also stressed that Miller does not need to have everything figured out immediately:
“I don't expect it to be perfect. It doesn't need to be perfect.”
For Miller, the debut is an opportunity to turn those practice lessons into progress. The Lions can build on each rep as their tackle gains experience.
