Lions GM Clears the Air on Ties With Dan Campbell After Lions Roster Shake-Up

Rumors of a rift between Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell have been swirling all week, putting the Detroit Lions under an unexpected spotlight. Now, Holmes has stepped forward to address the noise and set the record straight.
On a recent podcast appearance, the GM was asked about whether there was any truth to these rumors.
“I don’t know where the other stuff came from, but no, I mean, if anything, it’s me and Dan in total lockstep like we always have been,” Holmes said in response on The Lions Collective Podcast.
The speculation began after radio host Mike Valenti shared a concerning tip on his 97.1 The Ticket segment.
“Someone who covers the team told me that this was the first offseason there are definite differences of opinions in roster construction between Dan and Brad,” the host said last week.

After losing All-Pro center Frank Ragnow to retirement and guard Kevin Zeitler to free agency last season, the Lions missed the playoffs for the first time since 2022. So when Holmes talked about the intensity of conversations, he spoke about what the plan had been.
“I think the only intensity I would say is just that when you have a disappointment of a season like we had... I think what I spoke about at the end-of-the-season press conference is that it is a deeper, harder look from top to bottom on everything.”
Holmes further added that he and Campbell are aligned on all decisions, with the intensity focused on not missing small details or adjustments.
This perhaps also includes the decision to release lineman Graham Glasgow and LT Taylor Decker, and the trade of David Montgomery to the Texans for offensive lineman Juice Scruggs and a fourth-round and a seventh-round pick.
With all the releases the Lions have been dealing with, there's also a fair share of new faces at the franchise. Amongst these, a former Kansas City Chiefs Player is excited for his new chapter.
Isiah Pacheco Talks About His Excitement for the 2026 Season
After spending his entire NFL career of four years with the Chiefs, Isiah Pacheco was brought on as a replacement for David Montgomery, who also shares a similar mindset with the team.
"I'm gonna go crazy. I'm gonna spin, jump, whatever I can do to get the first down to accommodate Jahmyr, and we're fast," Pacheco said, "We got speed, and they can't sleep on it."
At 27, Pacheco's 2,537 career yards show promise. This prove-it deal will surely allow the rusher to live up to the 1,000-yard potential he harbored in his initial two seasons.
The Lions also added the ex-Miami Dolphins lineman, 2nd team All-SEC, Larry Borom, who allowed 15 pressures and two sacks over 664 offensive snaps last season.
While disagreements are normal after a disappointing season, Holmes confirmed he and Campbell remain aligned. A lot now depends on 2026.
