Lions Fans Up In Arms As Jeremiyah Love Fails To Recognise Jared Goff

It isn't every day that a highly touted NFL rookie completely blanks on the identity of a premier quarterback, but that just happened. Jeremiyah Love recently went viral for failing to recognize Detroit Lions veteran Jared Goff.

This moment actually went down on the St. Brown Podcast, hosted by Lions star Amon-Ra St. Brown and his brother Equanimeous. Amon-Ra challenged the rookie to identify players from portrait pictures. Seeing a new player totally go blank on one of the league's most recognizable faces was wild.

"I don't know this first guy… He look like uh old dude Andrew Garfield?" Love questioned the hosts.

He was then told by Amon-Ra that it was Jared Goff, a QB on his(Amon's) team.

"You said he's a QB? Was he good…?" Jeremiyah asked, and in response, the hosts said: "He's on your team right now!"

Goff is the Detroit Lions QB, and Love was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals.  So, he is not Love’s QB.

Love is an incredibly talented rookie. At the collegiate level at Notre Dame in 2025, he rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns and also received another 280 yards.

He further did not recognize many other players, including kicker Brandon Aubrey. It may all seem fun and games, but the Detroit Lions fans were not allowing Love to get off that easy from forgetting their beloved star QB.

Lions Fans React to Jeremiyah Love Not Recognizing the Veteran QB

Fans took to social media to vent their feelings towards Jeremiyah Love.

"Some athletes never watched the NFL growing up, and it’s crazy to think about…" one fan noted.

"Of all the guys to instantly get how’s Arvell Reese the only one he knew?" said another fan, pointing out the sheer irony. Arvell Reese, the New York Giants linebacker, is undeniably a great prospect and was the 5th overall pick in the 2026 draft.

But instantly recognizing him while completely blanking on a veteran Pro Bowl quarterback shows a massive gap in roster knowledge.

"Jared Goff took the Lions to the NFC Championship and is still getting treated like a generated QB," a frustrated supporter wrote.

Goff legitimately led an incredible offensive resurgence in Detroit last season, putting up 4,564 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, and an elite 103.4 passer rating during the 2025 regular season campaign. He also took the Lions to the NFC Championship in the 2023 NFL postseason.

"Oh i can not wait for the lions to bust his and the cardinals a** in the upcoming season," one fan stated, looking ahead.

The tension will peak till Detroit visits Arizona in Week 5. Interestingly, Detroit recently hired offensive coordinator Drew Petzing, who had spent the last three seasons as Arizona's OC.

"Don't worry. He'll show him who he is in Week 5 lol," another fan kept it straightforward, showing confidence in his star QB to teach the rookie RB a lesson when they meet face to face. That Monday night clash at State Farm Stadium is definitely going to be intense.
