The Detroit Lions are finally ready to begin their new season. After a disappointing 2025 campaign, Dan Campbell and his team have plenty to prove, and fans appear to know exactly what they want to see.

Their message to Campbell and his coaching staff is simple, and particularly for the defense under defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard.

“Pressure, Pressure, Pressure… get to Tyler Shough.”

The Lions face the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, and putting pressure on Shough could be the key to controlling the game. Detroit has plenty of defensive firepower, with Aidan Hutchinson and company capable of making life extremely difficult for the young quarterback.

For Campbell and Sheppard, the game plan could therefore be straightforward. Get after Shough, force him into difficult decisions, and prevent New Orleans from establishing any offensive rhythm.

If Detroit can consistently generate pressure, it could give the Lions the perfect platform to start the season strongly.

The Saints Are Incredibly Wary of Lions Star Jahmyr Gibbs

While Detroit will be looking to attack through its defense, New Orleans has plenty to worry about on the other side of the ball. Saints defensive coordinator Brandon Staley recently highlighted Jahmyr Gibbs as one of the biggest threats his unit will face.

Staley praised Gibbs' explosive speed and described him as having the “knockout punch” in both the running and passing games. He also pointed to Gibbs' ability to line up as a receiver and create problems from virtually anywhere.

That versatility makes Gibbs extremely difficult to prepare for. However, Gibbs has already made it clear that Detroit will not underestimate the Saints either.
