Lions GM Brad Holmes is sticking to his script this offseason. But his focus on low-cost, high-risk signings has fans sharply divided.

While some trust the process, others are frustrated by the lack of big-name additions.

The fans are looking for some big names, but instead, they are frustrated with having to welcome injury-prone signings on prove-it deals that could go either way.

So far during the free agency window, the only move that is appreciated by everyone has been the signing of center Cade Mays.

Other than him are Isiah Pacheco from the Kansas City Chiefs, tight end Tyler Conklin, Larry Borom, Juice Scruggs from the Houston Texans, defensive back Christian Izien from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Roger McCreary. 

The list does not end here. DJ Wonnum, Ben Bartch from the San Francisco 49ers, and a few more have also been added to the roster.

So far, GM Brad Holmes seems to be focusing more on the upcoming draft in true Lions fashion.

According to Mike Payton of the A to Z Sports, the Lions can sign Jadeveon Clowney to improve their defense lineup.

Out of 32 NFL teams, interestingly, the Lions stand at 26th in spending the most amount of money in free agency, and quite a few fans certainly aren't happy with how things stand.

The reaction to Brad Holmes and the Lions’ free agency moves has been anything but one-sided. 

Some fans kept it blunt, with one simply calling the free agency intent this year “Non-existent.”

Meanwhile, another commented on how quantity doesn't necessarily translate to quality.

“Lower tier players. No impact players,” the comment read.

But not everyone sees it that way. A section of fans understands the approach, pointing to value and flexibility.

“As expected, finding value in veteran contracts without breaking the bank,” one fan said, while another added, “Total depth building with former starters. Now he is free to draft for potential not need!!” 

The idea here is clear: It was about setting up the roster smartly for the 2026 draft.

Then there’s the middle ground, where most of the conversation seems to sit.

“Fine not bad not good fine,” one fan wrote, while another gave it a simple “B grade.”

Although the 2026 NFL Draft is about to start by April 2026, fans are already divided on where this season could be heading for Detroit.
