After narrowly missing the playoffs in 2025, the Detroit Lions were hoping for every possible advantage in the 2026 season. Instead, the NFL’s final Germany game decision left Detroit without the expected bye week afterward.

As per Brad Galli on X, the Motor City team is set to play its Week 10 match in Munich, Germany, in November 2026 at 9:30 a.m. ET on FOX.

“It’s not any longer guaranteed that you’ll get the bye after the international game, and we’re in a little bit of an odd situation with the game likely in November, and Thanksgiving,” Lions team president Rod Wood told reporters on Tuesday. “So I don’t know what our bye treatment will be, but I think it’s unlikely that we’ll get it the week right after the game.”

The scheduling outcome quickly enraged the Detroit Lions fans, many of whom viewed the decision as another unnecessary disadvantage for a team already facing a demanding season ahead.

Per Jeremy Reisman from NFL.com, the official 2026 NFL season schedule was set to be released on May 14, around 8 PM ET. But, due to an alleged leak, the date for the Lions' international match was revealed. 

“Earlier this week, it was leaked that the date of the Detroit Lions’ game in Munich is set for November 15—just a mere 11 days before Detroit’s Thanksgiving Day matchup.” 

This is concerning for the Lions; if true, then the Lions have to play three games in 11 days, which is not at all common in the NFL. 

Detroit fans cannot digest the fact that the Motor City team has to play matches with the possibility of not getting a bye.

Lions Fans Frustrated Over NFL’s Latest Home Game Decision

The latest decision by the NFL officials over the Detroit Lions' home game schedules has quickly sparked frustration among fans. 

Many fans believe that the Motor City team once again ended up on the wrong side of league scheduling.

“W** they always have some type of f****** for the Lions,” one fan wrote as reactions immediately flooded social media after the announcement.

Other fans sarcastically pushed back against the narrative that the Motown team supposedly received an easy path entering the 2026 season.

“But it’s the easiest schedule in the league. Eye roll….” another supporter posted while criticizing the added challenges surrounding the decision.

Injury concerns also became part of the conversation, as the Lions suffered losses in 2025 due to injuries to the core roster.

 “I’m sure that’s not going to present an elevated risk of injury at all….” one fan commented, questioning the physical impact the situation could create during the season.

Not every reaction came from Lions supporters, however.

“Boo f***** whooo… y’all were only winning 7-8 games anyways,” another user wrote while also calling for GM Brad Holmes to be fired.

Still, frustration remained the dominant emotion among Detroit fans.

“The F****** NFL is doing it to us again,” another supporter posted as disappointment continued spreading online.
