A new hypothetical involving Detroit Lions LB Jack Campbell has sparked reactions across both the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys fanbases.

Based on the recent claims made by the NFL analysts, the Lions will not extend Campbell's contract for the fifth year. And the Cowboys fans are asking for his signing on the Cowboys roster.

“The Detroit Lions not picking up Jack Campbell’s fifth-year option should restore the dream of a Pro Bowl linebacker coming to Dallas,” Levi Dombro of The Landry Hat wrote while supporting the Dallas Cowboys fans. 

Campbell was drafted by the Lions out of Iowa through the 2023 NFL Draft on a four-year rookie contract at $14.7M, per Spotrac. 

Amid the contract uncertainty, the Dallas Cowboys front office is being pressured by the fans to sign Campbell to restore their 2026 NFL Super Bowl path.

The Cedar Falls native is a proven starter for the Motown team. As per Pro Football Reference, since his draft, he has played all the games and recorded 210 solo tackles. 

Known for his instincts, physicality, and leadership, he could be a solution for the Cowboys' depleted fleet, per Dombro. 

“If Dallas could work out a deal that makes sense, it would add an elite talent at inside linebacker,” Dombro wrote. “Campbell could either be a long-term complement to DeMarvion Overshown or his replacement…”

The 2025 Pro Butkus Award winner will be released in free agency in 2027 and open for offers, if the Lions still don’t want to pursue him.

Lions Fans Fire Back at Cowboys Over Jack Campbell Speculation

The idea of Jack Campbell potentially landing with the Dallas Cowboys did not sit well with Detroit Lions fans, and the reactions quickly turned aggressive online.

Many fans completely dismissed the speculation the moment it surfaced. “They’re Cowboys fans, of course, they’re delusional,” one Lions supporter wrote, mocking the growing chatter around Campbell possibly leaving Detroit.

Others took direct shots at the Cowboys fanbase itself. “This shows you how slow the Cowboy fans are!!!” another fan posted as reactions continued pouring in across social media.

Also, some fans believe that the Cowboys' current financial situation does not allow them to sign Jack Campbell. 

For the fifth year, his projected cap would be around $22M, per Spotrac. And the move makes little sense.

“They stuck on how much to give him because they have to pay 3 players…fans are so funny,” one user wrote.

The strongest reactions came from fans convinced Campbell is staying in Detroit long term. “Campbell is going absolutely nowhere!” one fan commented confidently.

Even rival NFC North fanbases got pulled into the discussion. 

“Next, the Bears will think he's going there, with a complete delusional fan base,” another supporter joked as Lions fans continued defending one of Detroit’s core defensive players.
