To the disappointment of Detroit Lions fans, another analyst has taken the Lions quarterback Jared Goff off his list of the NFL's top ten quarterbacks. 

The debate started after the ESPN analyst Matthew Berry revealed his ranking of the league’s best quarterbacks. To the dismay of Lions fans, the list did not have Goff. This became a topic of discussion among analysts on Woodward Sports Network.

“He’s a top five quarterback but he gets disrespected, so he should be 7 or 8, no later than 9. ” said one panelist as found in the video posted on June 4.

As found in Berry's "Way Too Early Positional Rankings," Goff is at No. 18 while Buffalo Bills' Josh Allen is at No. 1, followed by Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson and New England Patriots' Drake Maye at second and third positions.

The list included Jalen Hurts and Caleb Williams at the top 10 but not Goff.

One panelist argued that Goff should comfortably rank in the top 10 considering his consistency and elite production over the years.

“In the last three years, I believe the last four years, Goff hasn’t finished lower than eighth,” he said in reference to Goff's rankings as one of the best quarterbacks in the league over the years.

Almost all of the analysts place Goff within the top 10 list, which raises concerns about Berry's rankings. Last season, too, in The Athletic's NFL QB tiers, the former 2016 No. 1 overall pick ranked as a Tier 2 NFL quarterback behind Justin Herbert and Jayden Daniels.

Fans React to Jared Goff Missing Out on the Top 10 Position

Just like the panelists, fans were also shocked at the list. Many voiced their displeasure at the rankings. One fan argued that Goff is already working towards a Hall of Fame campaign.

"If Goff has avg for him seasons until 38 years old, he will be top 5 in every quarterback stat... Goff is in the middle of a Hall of Fame career," the fan commented. No quarterback in NFL history had more games with a completion rate of at least 75.0% in a single season than Goff.

Another fan commented how Goff's stats would suggest something different."His numbers would suggest otherwise. Dude ranks 1st in many categories." In 2024, Goff became the first player in NFL history to post a 72.0% completion percentage.

One fan stated that Goff is top 5 and that his stats over the last 3 years would back his claim. "Goff is top 5. Don't believe me check out his last 3 seasons' stats." The quarterback came up with three back-to-back 4,000-yard seasons.

A fan called out the list for not even having Goff in the top 7 despite him believing that Goff was deserving of top 4. "If you judge solely on stats last 4 years he's top 4. Not top 7 is just insane take," read the comment. Over the past four years, Goff has had 130 touchdowns.
