Detroit Lions defensive end Aidan Hutchinson is no stranger to commanding attention inside Michigan Stadium. However, on Friday night, the former Wolverine surprised over 75,000 fans by making an appearance with a country music superstar.

The unexpected moment quickly became one of the highlights of country music superstar Morgan Wallen’s concert at the Big House. Hutchinson was met with a thunderous ovation as he walked onto the field with the superstar.

Wallen, whose estimated net worth is around $35 million, has made it a signature tradition to invite stars to his pre-show walkouts. Hutchinson is the latest addition to this list.

As reported by The Detroit News on X, Hutchinson was seen emerging from the Lloyd Carr Tunnel wearing a sleeveless black T-shirt and baby-blue shorts.

During their entrance, Wallen and the Lions DE were seen embracing each other before moving towards the field.

Hutchinson's not the first NFL player to be invited by Wallen. The singer has had NFL legends Tom Brady and Peyton Manning take part in his tradition, as well as stars like rapper Drake, legendary boxer Mike Tyson, and WNBA star Caitlin Clark.

Before being drafted second overall by the Lions in the 2021 NFL Draft, Hutchinson had shone for the Michigan Wolverines. In his four years at Michigan, he played 43 games and recorded a total of 159 tackles and 18.5 sacks (14 of which came in his last year).

Hutchinson was named an All-American in that last year while also finishing second for the Heisman Trophy. Since then, he has become a cornerstone in the Lions' defense.

The DE had his best season yet in the NFL in 2025, recording 14.5 sacks and finishing fifth in DPOY. This has seen him ranked among the top five at his position by NFL analysts.

Hutchinson ranks Top 5 amongst edge rushers

There is no doubt that Aidan Hutchinson is the Detroit Lions' best edge rusher. However, where would he rank amongst the NFL’s top edge rushers?

Well, according to Sports Illustrated’s Eva Geitheim, Karl Rasmussen, and Mike Kadlick’s rankings, he ranks fourth overall.

“Hutchinson is a terrific athlete with an unremitting motor, and he didn’t lose a step in his return from injury,” wrote Rasmussen on July 23. “He can take on just about any offensive lineman in a one-on-one situation, and his ability to draw double teams should enable other members of Detroit’s revamped defensive line to find success getting after opposing quarterbacks.”

Rasmussen also pointed to Hutchinson ranking second in the NFL for forced fumbles with four as well as him tallying 63 pressures, the second-most in the league.

His career-best records, comprising 33 quarterback hits and 14 tackles for loss, also helped his case.

The only three edge rushers ranked higher than Hutchinson were Will Anderson Jr. of the Houston Texans, Micah Parsons of the Green Bay Packers, and Myles Garrett of the Los Angeles Rams.

Garrett was ranked as the best in the league after his record-breaking 23-sack season.

Under defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard, the Lions had a strong start as an elite defense last season, before seeing a drop due to injuries and inconsistency.

If DC Sheppard can guide the team's defense back to a similarly elite form next season, we could see Hutchinson gain a few spots in his ranking.
