The Detroit Lions have added a few stars to their defense in the 2026 NFL Free Agency, and one of whom is Rock-ya Sin.

What does he look forward to in the 2026 NFL season? Better performance.

In his first press conference after the signing, the reporters asked the Lions CB if he wanted to be a better version of himself in the 2026 season. The Lions star answered in affirmation and said:

"I want to take the ball away more this year. I really want to take the ball away. I really thought that I left some on the field last year. Um, some interceptions, some forced fumbles. I want to do a better job of that this year. I want to take the ball away."

In the 2025 regular season, Ya-Sin played 611 total snaps, including 382 in coverage, 224 against the run, and 5 as a pass rusher. He recorded 27 solo tackles and 20 assists, while allowing 27 receptions. Considering coverage and overall defense in the 2025 season, he generated 3 total pressures, forced 0 fumbles, and missed just 2 tackles.

Ya-Sin is not just satisfied with the performance, especially with fumble recoveries and interceptions, because he did not record a fumble recovery or an interception in the 2025 season. But now the Detroit Lions CB wants more fumble recoveries and interceptions to his name.

And why wouldn't he? He was chasing the Detroit Lions, and now that he is in, he would want to give his 100%.

Ya-Sin Wanted To Come To The Detroit Lions

The reporters reminded Ya-Sin of how he has been playing for different teams for the past 5 seasons and asked how it feels to come to the Lions. The corner back said:

"It's not so much about that. I think it's more just wanting to be back here. You know, I feel like, honestly, whenever I uh ended the season, I was ready to go, usually, you know, from those four or five teams I had been on. Like when it was time to go, I was happy to go."

Sin was drafted in the 2nd round (34th overall) in the 2019 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Then, in 2022, he joined the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. But it didn't end there; the San Francisco 49ers signed him in 2024, followed by the Detroit Lions in 2025.

The Lions are the first team to re-sign him in the last 5 seasons, and he wanted that.

"This was the first time I really wanted to come back, and um, I let my agent know that from the from like before the season had ended, I already let him know I wanted to come back. So I'm just glad to be back," he said.

He has signed a 1-year, $3,200,000 contract with the Lions. It includes a $1,000,000 signing bonus, $2,640,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $3,200,000.
