Micah Parsons, the star edge rusher of the Green Bay Packers, may not recover from his ACL injury in the expected time. This one news and some of the Detroit Lions fans are just not able to hide their excitement, being one of the oldest divisional rivalries.

Recently, on the Sports Talk Detroit podcast, analyst Chris Noora reacted to the Parsons news of being sidelined for roughly half the season. He has been one of the most disruptive players, being the centerpiece of the Packers' defense.

"Just from a pure standpoint of a player, he[Micah Parsons] is a problem. And I don't think we wanted to admit it last year. Like he just changed everything for them..." said Chris Noora on Sports Talk Detroit. "They're just steady and a little bit of a problem. But this is a huge loss for them [ Packers]. Great for us [Lions]."

Parsons suffered a severe left knee injury in December 2025, during the Packers' Week 15 matchup against the Denver Broncos. It turned out to be an ACL injury, and he underwent surgery by the end of the month, which led to a nine-month rehab, as per AToZ Sports.

While sharing the news of Parson, Noora expressed Parsons' importance on Sports Talk Detroit. Whether it is lining up as an edge rusher or moving around the formation, the Packers defender forces offenses to change protection schemes.

The Lions are entering the season with Super Bowl hopes after becoming one of the NFC's elite teams. Any setback suffered by the rival team naturally benefits Detroit's chances of securing a playoff position.

Meanwhile, the Packers would face the challenge of replacing the edge rusher. Last season, the Packers finished 9-7-1 and the Lions finished 9-8.

Parsons has recorded 191 solo tackles, 65.0 sacks, and forced four fumbles in five seasons. However, his prolonged absence can shift expectations not only for the team but for the entire conference.

Noora's reaction reflects how important Parsons has become to Green Bay's success. While Lions fans may view the injury through the lens of the NFC North race, the Packers are now facing the challenge of replacing one of the league's most impactful defenders.

Green Bay Could Feel Impact Of Parsons' Extended Recovery

According to Rodney Knuppel of Athlon Sports, Parsons has been straightforward about his mindset throughout the recovery process.

"I think the goal has always just been not right now, but longevity with my career here," he said, per Knuppel. "There's no good outcomes with players coming back early from ACL."

Knuppel noted that Green Bay appears focused on Parsons' long-term health rather than rushing him back onto the field. They want him healthy and leading their defense deep into January for years down the line.

The issue is that trying to replace him in the meantime is basically a lost cause. Parsons has been wrecking offenses since he came into the league in 2021.

Defensive Rookie of the Year, two-time All-Pro with Dallas, and then he walks into Green Bay and drops 12.5 sacks in 2025 for another All-Pro season.

With Parsons missing half of the 2026 season, Detroit could benefit in what is expected to be a tightly contested NFC North race.
