Lions Advised Against Adding This Offensive Weapon In 2026 NFL Draft

Detroit’s offense ranked fourth in the league in points scored and fifth in total yards last season. The team already has offensive weapons, so it won't make sense to add more to that list.
With officially less than a week for the 2026 NFL Draft, Kory Woods of MLive advised the Detroit Lions not to acquire wide receivers through this draft.
According to Woods, the Lions' projected 2026 starters, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Isaac TeSlaa, are the best 2026 wide receiver trio.
Brown contributed the most last season. He led the team with 117 receptions, 1,401 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.
Since being drafted by the Lions in 2021, he has played 83 games while covering 6,252 yards and scoring 44 touchdowns.
Following him in the list is Jameson Williams. He had the second-best stats with 77 catches for 1,117 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. As per PFF, Williams was ranked 28th out of 81 qualified WRs.

Apart from them, there is Isaac TeSlaa. To acquire him, the Lions moved up 32 spots to No. 70 from No. 102 in the third round. The Lions gave up their 102nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and two picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Known for his high athletic ability and gritty playmaking, he had 16 catches for 239 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games.
To support them, they have Greg Dortch, Dominic Lovett, Jackson Meeks, Malik Cunningham, and Tom Kennedy as their backups on the depth chart.
Wide Receiver Prospect for the Detroit Lions
According to Detroitlions.com, there are a few prospects befitting the team.
First is Ted Hurst, who had 71 catches, 1,004 yards and six touchdowns at Georgia State last year. Per senior writer Tim Twentyman, the WR comes in with a "size speed combo."
The next is Caleb Douglas from Texas Tech. He caught 54 passes for 846 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
Apart from them, Malik Benson is also making waves. He has played with three different universities in the past three years: Alabama (2023), Florida State (2024) and Oregon (2025).
Benson's best year was with the Oregon Ducks, where he racked up 43 catches for 719 yards and six touchdowns. Per Twentyman, he also has some special team talent.
Other than that, Colbie Young and Kaden Wetjen are also projected to be a fit for Detroit.
