Fans' bashing was not even concluded over Kyler Murray’s OTAs clip. Now another wave of strong reactions is hitting Murray over his comparison with the Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams.

Recently, in her X post, NFL reporter Kay Adams compared the Minnesota Vikings' newly signed QB Kyler Murray and the Bears’ star Caleb Williams. In her comparison, she chose Murray over Williams by agreeing with the fact that Murray has more potential than Williams.

It is not the first time that she publicly backed Murray over Williams.

Back in 2024, during the NFL draft, she openly came up with the idea that the Arizona Cardinals should continue with Murray, as he has more potential than the 2024 draft prospect Caleb Williams.

“Kyler, the numbers maybe don't jump off the page, you know, if you neck and neck him with other quarterbacks,” Adams said. “But he's having a super efficient season…he's got 16 total touchdowns, so just three interceptions, he's leading the league…I'm impressed.”

Even after coming out of an ACL tear, Murray was keeping up with the production. Even in the last season, while playing in five matches for the Cardinals, he threw for 962 yards with six TDs.

But for Williams, he appeared in all 17 games for the Bears and scored 27 TDs with seven interceptions while throwing for 3,942 yards.    

But if we judge them by their careers, then statistically, Williams doesn’t stand a chance against Murray, and this is the potential about which Adams was talking.

On March 12, 2026, the Vikings signed Murray to increase their QB depth and injury insurance for their starter QB JJ McCarthy.

The Minnesota Vikings front office is showing its faith in Murray, and he is also actively sweating in the field while competing with McCarthy for the starter QB position, but for fans, it is a completely different story.

Social Media Turns on Kyler Murray After QB Debate

As the comparison between the two quarterbacks hit social media, it quickly sparked a wave of strong reactions against the Minnesota Vikings’ QB Kyler Murray. 

Some fans saw the discussion as more of a friendly fire by the Chicago girl, Kay, at Williams than a praise for Murray. “Kay is cooking the Bears fans. Lmao,” one user wrote, suggesting the debate was bound to provoke Bears supporters.

Not everyone was holding on to their thoughts, they went directly after Murray's résumé. “Kyler Murray got knocked out of a game by his center snapping the football. Please stop,” one fan posted, using one of the most infamous moments of his career, where he was snapped by his teammate, center Hjalte Froholdt.

The criticism against Murray became even harsher when fans questioned his long-term ceiling. “Kyler's shown for 8 years that he doesn't have it...you cannot even pretend that Jacoby Brissett is a legit possible starter either,” another commenter argued.

Some fans even refused to digest the idea of comparing both the quarterbacks, as for them, Murray does not stand a chance against Caleb Williams. “Why do you think Kyler Murray has more potential than Caleb Williams?” one fan asked.

Others reacted with pure disbelief. “COME ON, KAY. WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING,” another user wrote.

The responses made one thing clear: many fans were far more willing to back Caleb Williams than entertain another round of Kyler Murray hype.
