It looks like the Chicago Bears' six-year struggle to build their dream dome stadium is far from over. Amid the negotiations, the team's president, Kevin Warren, is accused of hijacking the Bears' moments for his personal gains, per Dan Bernstein of 312 Sports.  

“And time after time after time, Kevin Warren sidelined them. Kevin Warren had no use for them because he was busy holding press conferences,” Bernstein bluntly said. “He was busy hijacking Bears' on-field moments to send out position papers.” 

It all started in 2021, when the Bears’ former president Tedd Phillips purchased a 326-acre plot of land in Arlington Heights to build the Bears' dream stadium project. 

But in 2023, Warren succeeded Phillips to complete the organization’s aspiration of a new stadium. Initially, he was the best man fit for the job as he led the project of the Minnesota Vikings’ state-of-the-art new stadium. 

But something changed when it came for the Bears.

“He was busy putting himself in front of the cameras after games. He was promoting himself for whatever his next job is going to be, whenever he can find it.”

Bernstein highlighted that Warren is just delivering false promises to the Bears’ fans. He is using the opportunity for his personal gains to rise in the hierarchy. 

Warren first promised “shovels in the ground” by 2024 when the Bears drafted Caleb Williams. Then it changed to 2025, and now it's 2026, and his board committee has selected a toxic wasteland in Hammond, Indiana. 

During the process, the Bears’ fans got nothing but empty pressers, sugarcoated interviews, and, mostly, the dirty flexing of power between Warren and the politicians. 

The Illinois spring term legislature has already ended without passing the bill to lay the foundation of the much-awaited stadium. 

The project remains under uncertainty. 

New stadium site enters the Bears’ discussion

Post-finalizing the toxic lands of Hammond, Indiana, for the construction of the Chicago Bears’ dream project, a new pitch for the third site is being made.

As reported by Se Kwon of Fox 32, ‌officials from the southwest suburbs, the mayor of McCook, Terry Carr, have proposed a new 150-acre site for the Bears' new dome-shaped stadium.

Based on the insights received, the land is located near the 55th Street of East Avenue, which is close to interstates 55 and 294.

Carr has accepted that it is a long shot, but he still wants the franchise to consider the land for the 80,000-seat domed stadium.

He believes that it would be feasible for the Bears. As the stadium would be owned by the village, the franchise can take it on lease for $1/year. 

This will also help them with the property taxes situation, as the stadium would be owned by the public.

There is still no official confirmation released by the Bears about the consideration of the proposal. But one thing is clear: the project will remain under scrutiny for a long time.
