The Green Bay Packers handed quarterback Jordan Love a four-year, $220 million contract extension in 2024 with the hopes of reaching the Super Bowl. Last season, they were defeated by the Chicago Bears in the wild-card round.
Now entering his sixth NFL season, Love is facing growing expectations after Green Bay came up short in each of its last two playoff runs. According to Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon, the next two seasons could effectively create a two-year deadline for Love and the Packers to make a Super Bowl run.
“The 27-year-old Jordan Love is in his prime and under contract for the next few years, and the Packers are already a perennial playoff team,” Gagnon wrote. “They’re far from a crossroads, but things get tricky if they can’t deliver the next two years."

The comment highlights what comes next. While Green Bay has established itself as a regular playoff contender, Gagnon believes the next two seasons could go a long way toward determining whether this group can take the next step.
Gragnon also pointed out that Love is set to count $74.2 million against the salary cap in 2028.
Love is coming off another productive year, throwing for more than 3,000 yards. However, Green Bay was unable to turn that appearance into the deep playoff run many had hoped for.
Love was the starting quarterback in each of Green Bay's last two playoff exits. For his career, he owns a 1-3 postseason record, with his lone playoff victory coming during the 2023 season when the Packers upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card round.
The Packers are still searching for their first Super Bowl appearance since the 2010 season. Then, the team defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 to win.
Green Bay has continued building around Jordan Love
Part of the reason the focus remains on the next two seasons is the investment Green Bay has continued to make around its quarterback. The Packers have spent the last few years assembling a roster they believe can compete with the NFC's best.
Earlier this year, Green Bay selected wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the NFL Draft, marking the franchise's first first-round receiver selection since 2002, according to ESPN.
The Packers also added several offensive playmakers. The team made another major move this offseason by acquiring star pass rusher Micah Parsons.
CBS Sports analyst Brian DeArdo recently included Love among the quarterbacks with the most at stake heading into the 2026 season.
“Love and the Packers were unable to match that level of success the last two years, however, which is why Love is surely eager to have a big year in 2026,” DeArdo wrote.
The comment reflects the legacy around Love. But the next two seasons could play a solid role in determining how this era of Packers football is ultimately remembered.
