Detroit Lions star tight end Sam LaPorta received an outpouring of support this week after he shared a personal update on social media.

In a reel posted on Instagram, LaPorta’s wife revealed that the couple was expecting their first child. The video started off with baking, and ended with a USG image of their baby. The announcement was met with hundreds of comments, congratulating them. One amongst them was fellow teammate and quarterback Jared Goff’s wife, Christen Harper.

“The mini 😭😭😭 I’m so happy for you guys!” Harper commented.

The Sports Illustrated model is also a mother, giving birth to her daughter Romy Isabelle Goff in July 2025. So she knows the happiness of expecting.

LaPorta met his wife, Callie Dellinger, back in 2019 during their freshman year of college at the University of Iowa. Callie, who was by LaPorta's side during the draft, and LaPorta got engaged in February 2024 during a beach getaway. The two then had a private wedding ceremony in June 2025.

Meanwhile, LaPorta, one of the NFL’s most productive young tight ends, is currently recovering from a back injury sustained last season. While his contract situation has been a huge debate amongst NFL fans, fans were quick to congratulate the couple.

Fans Shower Congrats To The Happy Couple

The post, which was posted on both Dellinger’s and LaPorta’s personal Instagrams, has received many comments congratulating them from fans, family, and friends.

Current teammate and tight end Brock J Wright was quick to comment on the post, “This is incredible.”

Meanwhile, LaPorta’s teammate, Amon-Ra St.Brown’s girlfriend, Brooklyn Adams, also shared her excitement in the comments.

“OH MY GOODNESS!!! Congratulations, you guys.”

Fellow teammate Penei Sewell’s wife, Isabelle Sewell, who is also a mother of 3, congratulated the couple and gave them some words of encouragement.

“Ah, omg, congrats, you guys. You’re gonna be the best parents ever.”

Actor Taylor Lautner also shared his feelings on the post.

“CONGRATS GUYS OURS CAN BE BESTIES”

Lautner and his wife are expecting their first child, as they announced in June. Their children, who would be around the same age, give footing to the besties' comment.

One fan was excited for the couple as well as the idea for the Instagram post.

“So happy for you both!! Also, couldn’t be happier that you included baking in your announcement!! You’ll be awesome parents!”
