Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff recently took a walk down memory lane on May 8. He shared a nostalgic picture of himself sitting on a chair, dressed in his California Golden Bears jersey on his official Instagram account.

Goff had a prolific collegiate career with the California Golden Bears from 2013 to 2015. He started all 37 games as a true freshman through junior year. He set multiple school records, including career passing yards (12,220) and touchdowns (96).

Back in 2015, he broke Pac-12 single-season records with 4,719 yards and 43 touchdown passes. Goff set six school records, including passing yards, completions, attempts, and touchdowns, according to California Golden Bears' official website.

Moreover, he became the first true freshman to start the season opener as QB1 in Golden Bears' history. Despite having subpar physical skills, his positional skills drew attention at the 2016 NFL Combine.

Eventually, the Los Angeles Rams selected him as the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. It made him the second Golden Bears' player since Steve Bartkowski in 1975 to get drafted first overall.

Despite being traded to the Detroit Lions in exchange for Matthew Stafford in 2020, his leadership abilities are still intact, as his teammates are appreciative towards his guidance.

Goff Helps Lions CB to Become A 'Better Player'

During an appearance on the 'NFL Spotlight' podcast with Ari Meirov, Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold discussed the importance of Goff's leadership and feedback. He also confessed how Goff's guidance helps him to become a 'better player.'

"If they beat me on something, he’ll (Goff) come back and tell me why he did it. Or what he’s reading or what he’s looking at, so that right there was everything to me," Arnold said. "It just helped me become a better player and transition to the player that I want to become."

During his stint with the Rams, he had led the team to a Super Bowl appearance in 2018, a testament to his winning mentality.

Goff was second in the league in passing touchdowns and passing yards last season. Arnold also discussed how he's not afraid to ask Goff a question about his coverage.

"A guy like that, with veteran experience, a guy knows how to win — I would say he's one of those guys you can feel comfortable asking any question," Arnold confessed. "I like to ask him what he sees when I'm in a certain coverage, what he sees when I'm in this type of look. At the end of the day, if I know what he sees, it's going to make me that much better."

Despite missing the playoffs last season, the Lions will look forward to make a deep playoff run while Goff is at the helm for the upcoming season.
