The Detroit Lions’ Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills sparked concern among the Detroit fans, but Jared Goff does not believe the team needs to panic after falling to 1-1.
Speaking to 97.1 The Ticket, the Lions QB1 acknowledged that they had chances to stay in the game but failed to capitalize. Detroit trailed 21-0 before rallying, but Buffalo held on for a 41-31 win:
“I mean, we're 1 and 1, and it's Week 3. I don't know, I mean, we lost by ten and had some chances to stay in that game and didn't do it. That's a good team, and we lost. They got us, and we move on to the next one.”
Goff also dismissed the need to justify Detroit’s direction internally, pointing to the amount of football still left to be played in the season.
“I really don't feel like I have to defend anything we're doing internally. We've got a lot of the season in front of us and a lot of work to do, certainly, but we feel just fine.”
Detroit’s dismal Week 2 performance had fans worried
The Lions’ dismal Week 2 performance had fans worried after the Buffalo Bills exposed several issues.
Detroit fell into a 21-0 hole before finding its rhythm, while the defense allowed 41 points. Buffalo finished with 446 total yards compared to Detroit’s 355.
The Lions now have time to address those problems before facing the New York Jets in Week 3. Meanwhile, Jared Goff’s comments offered some reassurance to fans concerned by the disappointing performance.
