With the 2026 NFL season approaching, the Detroit Lions, led by Jared Goff, were seen in action at the Detroit Lions Training Facility in Allen Park, Michigan, with a special message from the team's shot-caller.

Quarterback Jared Goff amplified the Detroit Lions' offseason buzz, resharing the team’s practice clip from the Meijer Performance Center, Allen Park, on his Instagram as preparations for the 2026 season ramped up.

“WE BACK!” Jared Goff wrote on Instagram, resharing a post from offseason workouts.

Per Detroit Lions on SI, they officially began offseason workouts on April 20 with voluntary workouts, as Phase 1, where they will be doing conditioning workouts and have meetings over the span of two weeks. 

Followed by a Phase 2 workout plan where they officially begin their training for the 2026 NFL campaign. Here, they can have on-field individual and group work and walkthroughs for the next three weeks. 

The Lions have yet to announce their official training camp dates, but this time they will be holding three OTAs sessions. According to Sports Illustrated, their 2026 offseason calendar is as follows: 

• OTAs Week 1: May 27-29.
• OTAs Week 2: June 2-4.
• OTAs Week 3: June 9-11.
• Mandatory minicamp: June 16-17 (tentative dates based on past roster, yet to be officially announced)

This year, the Lions are doing it differently, very differently. They are the only team skipping rookie minicamp in 2026.

Instead, Detroit is betting on a customized path, folding their rookies straight into OTAs and the mandatory minicamp.

With the Lions building momentum early, the spotlight shifts directly to their quarterback heading into the new season.

Jared Goff's Consistent Impact Highlighted Ahead of 2026 Season

With the Detroit Lions not able to qualify for the playoffs last season, the expectations from their star QB Jared Goff have only grown.

As highlighted by team analyst Tim Twentyman on DetroitLions.com, the front office continues to evaluate quarterback depth while reinforcing key areas across the roster.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Reisman of Pride of Detroit pointed out that the Lions’ shot-caller is a strength that has flown under the radar.

"It feels like Jared Goff is often taken for granted in this town, but he’s now produced four straight seasons of a passer rating of 97.9 or higher, at least 4,400 yards, and over that time has produced a touchdown-to-interception ratio of 130-to-39," Reisman wrote this week. "Statistically, he’s been a top-five quarterback, and the importance of that can’t be overstated.

Perhaps one of the most noteworthy moments to prove this point is Goff's top-5 MVP finalist selection for his 2024 campaign.

Goff has delivered consistency. Now, with a strong roster, the expectation is clear: turn production into playoff results.
