Tight end Tyler Conklin signed with the Detroit Lions this offseason, and within days has already formed a very specific opinion about the man throwing him the ball.
Appearing on NFL Network's The Insiders on May 15, Conklin was asked what stood out about Jared Goff in their early time together at camp.
"It was a really casual ball, super accurate, but just kind of the way he [Jared Goff] talks about whether it's a certain route or how he wants something done," Conklin explained. "Some quarterbacks are just 'hey, go get open and do it,' and some give you a little more detail."
Last season, Conklin played with the Los Angeles Chargers with Justin Herbert under center. Herbert threw 13 interceptions, fourth highest in the league.

Meanwhile, Goff ranked fifth in completion rate at 68%, completing 393 of 578 passes.
"I obviously haven't been here too long yet, but routes on air and just kind of the incident meetings and the way he goes about things, I think is what stuck out," Conklin said.
As for Conklin, the tight end started just five games last season with seven receptions for 101 yards and zero touchdowns. But now in Detroit, he can sense the culture that defines the team.
Tyler Conklin Sees the Sense of Urgency in Detroit
Tyler Conklin also spoke candidly about the mood inside the building after Detroit missed the playoffs in 2025 following back-to-back postseason runs.
"You can feel the disappointment in how things played out," he said. "The whole building feels like they underachieved and missing the playoffs really hurt."
That urgency, he added, shows up in everything the team does daily.
"How everybody comes to work every day, how everybody attacks work, our lifts, our running, our on-field stuff. You can definitely feel the sense of urgency of getting to where this team knows it can be," Conklin added.
From what he has seen of Goff in just a few days, he already believes he came to exactly the right place. What are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments.
